Don't think it's possible to seat too deep. Once it bottoms out it's fully seated properly. Not fully seated the primers move away from the hammer when struck resulting in FTF.
After expounding on my very positive experience with S&A primers I feel I should relate my last range trip results with S&A SPP. Six out of 50 38spl rounds FTF on the first strike. Three fired after two or three additional strikes. Three never did fire after several strikes and will be pulled...
To each his own, but I clean my revolvers thoroughly after every range trip. I just got done with one and while cleaning the cylinder chambers I noticed the ejector rod had come loose. Would've been a PIA if it happened at the next range trip and backed out enough I couldn't open the cylinder...
When carrying a revolver it's a 3" S&W Model 65-2 357. I chose to carry the Model 65 over my Speed Six 2 3/4" because I shoot it better especially rapid fire. When I choose a semi auto it's a PC Sheild 9. When traveling to the inner city it's both.
Is it one particular chamber that is causing the headspace/dragging/binding? Maybe one case head not seated fully & standing too proud? I totally understand your disappointment but wondering if the cause could be something simple.
I bought another gun belt from Beltman. Double layer bull hide w/stiffener like the one I've worn daily for @8 years. Didn't need it but was on sale. Great belts reasonably priced.
