Chris Collins is a great instructor. I took a defensive handgun class with him at US Shooting Academy in Oklahoma 2 years ago. I don't watch TV much and didn't realize he was on Top Shot. Cool. --Stork

Currently in the middle of a 6 month deployment. This will be the longest I've gone without shooting. Most Air Force deployments used to be 4 months, but then we cut a bunch of people. Guess who picks up the slack.

My AR-15 is a Del-ton mid length on a CMMG receiver. The only options I chose were the chrome lined bbl and M-4 feed ramps. If I were to do it again, I'd likely add the chrome lined bolt carrier group just for ease of cleaning. AR's go together like Legos. You should have no problem. Mine...

I'm enticed by the affordable surplus CZ-75's on the market right now. Has anybody tried to run JHP's in one of these? Were they designed for hollow points or just military FMJ bullets? There's no doubt that these guns make excellent range toys, but I am wondering if they are also a viable...

Mine jams. It's been back to Kimber and to a pivate 1911 smith. I've got a little over 7000 rounds through it but it is only a range toy... Not a serious gun.

I voted for the 18.5" just because it feels handier to me. Although in a home defense situation, if you do the smart thing and barricade yourself in your bedroom, the 20" has the advantage. --Stork

I got one of those from CDNN too, but the one I got was so stiff and tight that I couldn't really get the gun in all the way without forcing it to the point that it was stuck. It's luck of the draw with that surplus stuff. I suppose for the 12 bucks it was worth the gamble. --Stork Edited to...

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned it, but a 20 guage shotgun is no slouch and may be more manageable for your wife than a 12 guage. Hit up the gun shops and pawn shops for a used but solid pump shotgun. You may be surprised at how affordable they are if you aren't stuck on finding one...

Here's another variable... What is the nature of the threat? Knife threat = get between them and your friend. Gun threat = create lateral separation. --Stork
