I have the standard pressure rounds too. I carry those in my New Vaquero. It's a short carry guy.

I carry the .45 Colt version. It's a pleasure to shoot with a 255 bullet and 5.4 of Tightgroup. The hotter loads start to hurt a little bit.

Your exractor can't be worse than the one on my Taurus. I'll be going on my third one since I got it. Maybe 500 rounds through this one. Their parts are pot metal junk. You can see the break is very granular.

A 3" GP100 might be just the ticket. An extra round, small enough for packin and you can get a better grip on it when the bear charges you.

Anything Buffalo Bore makes is awesome.

A pitted plate will be more unpredictable as well.

As far as JHP vs SWC goes. If I were shooting a naked man with no bones then the JHP would always be better. But if I'm shooting someone who could be wearing heavy clothing or decided to hide behind something like a car door or a couch then the SWC is better.
