I'm sure there's a story somewhere, but I'm also sure Art heard it third-hand. Buzzards are a protected species.
I have a friend who made up some *interesting* loads off saboted .30-06. It did funny-looking things to plate steel. That plastic sabot was hard to get out of the grooves, too...
As it's not made from the modified receiver of an original Mk.V., it should hold a reasonably steady POI. The main reason they walked around was the lightening cuts on the receiver.
Good looking carbine. I'm sure this one is a real shooter.

I'll second HBE; Eric makes fine holsters and stands behind them. Milt Sparks and Tucker Gun Leather turn out excellent leather as well.

Military Gun Supply has them in VG for $299. They also have a good supply of Swede GC-63 target rifles, most with diopter sights. I was over there a few months ago and the quality is what they say it is; most of the 63's have club stickers or plates that are uncommon in the U.S.
The 96's...
I'm not so much into the MG-34, but I'm wondering if, post-Heller, we could please overturn the import restrictions on Norinco? That M14S at $399.Cdn, with a trip to Fulton, would be nice.

Seems to me that Our Tam had a Williams FAL receiver she built up into a .223 FAL. That was, in my opinion, the only safe way to utilize an aluminum FAL receiver. She has since sold the rifle.

I know some of y'all have these; if you need a magazine, as I know a lot of them have gone missing, I ran across a source at MGS in Ft. Worth.

I keep a P38 on my keychain and have done so or probably the last 30 years. Got some bigger P51's around the house, too.
Sometimes you have to get into something and a hammer and chisel are too much.

I've got an acquaintance who runs a pawnshop- what comes out of pawn and gets put on the floor (in his shop) are usually small power tools that turn quickly, small tv's and home electronics, and the like. Most anything larger or of better quality goes immediately to Ebay or Gun Broker. The few...
I understand that H&R's Reisings that remained Stateside went to National Guard/Civil Defense units who were assigned to bridge and railway guard duty. I've heard stories from Pacific Theater Marines who said their Reisings rusted to a non-functional state within days, and tended to be 'lost or...
Springer Micro Compact in .45ACP. Picked it out herself. Shoots it well. She's considering getting another, but can't decide between the M&P Compact or the Walther PPS. I think that she's leaning toward the PPS, as she's on a single-stack kick because of small hands.

I bought one early this year and it's a fine rifle.
I also found the man who it was issued to and thanked him for taking care of it.
