I don't really want to rifle hunt for deer this fall. It's just getting to be too easy. So I'm planning on my longbow and my Smith 69.
Just wondering what factory hunting loads you prefer for whitetail/mulies.
Are there any lower recoil hunting loads that are still effective?
Thanks

Finally was able to get to the range and shoot the new 69. Awesome! Started with a cylinder of Hornady Critical Defense and wow! Shot like a kitten! Then the 240 American Eagles, hot dang that hurts lol! Then my grizzly load of choice is the 305 HSM's. It seemed the heavier load was more of a...
Picked up my 69 yesterday, finally! Can't wait to shoot it!
But I've been looking at the Wilson Combat trigger spring kits for this and for a J frame we have.
I'd like to help out the heavy double action if possible and still keep it reliable. Is this possible with the springs? How hard are...
... Also I can buy a wood stock and have the action bedded for the 22 and still be ok to change barrels of the outside diameter of the barrel is the same?
So Ive been wanting a quality bolt rimfire for a while, a CZ. And I see they make the 22/17 combo.
But if I want to just buy a 22LR I can just go and pick up a 22 mag or 17 barrel later on if need be? The actions are all universal?
Thanks
Not sure if you're new to CCW or not. If so let me save you some heart ache.
When I started carrying about five years ago I started with the full size XDM 40. I carried it in a Crossbreed. But boy it was tough to hide that huge grip.
I finally got a Glock 27 and carried that for a couple...
Just curious as to your wife's background in shooting and defense training. It seems gun counter guys and a lot of men force women who are new to guns into a snubbie. But they are more difficult to shoot accurately than say a larger wheel gun or pistol. My wife can run a Glock all day long but...
What I "should" do is buy a 44 for a backpacking carrying gun then buy the Smith 460 I've wanted ever since Wayne Van Zwoll let me shoot the one he was reviewing back in 2006... Only got to shoot it once but that was enough to get me hooked!
I was looking at bullet selection tonight for the 475. Not much out there for hunting bullets, or expending bullets. The Hornady, Barnes and then of course cast. But brass doesn't seem that expensive.
The worst part about the griz gun debate is there's such a lack of real world evidence either way as to what's the best bear handgun lol. Most of the guys in the debate are in their mom's basements back east some where. I think mace would be fine but the wind where I'd be likey to find a griz...
