    Because I got old...

I currently own a Bushmaster carbine in .556 and an Arsenel SLR 106 FR in the same caliber, so Im OK. My point was to address those that are saying you don't "need" something when that item fills a need for older people with the limitations age can bring.

    Because I got old...

... i need an AR-15. Forty years ago I would not have made that statement. Since then, I can no longer tolerate the recoil of any larger centerfire rifle that has as much power. Those of us on the otherside of 60 have very different physical limitations than younger people. The current...

    Time for a History Lesson

The "reason" I posted this is to let the "younger generation" know where the "term", hi-cap came from. The correct term is "standard capacity."

    Time for a History Lesson

Yes, Bill Ruger Sr. was the "orgin" of the "10 round" limit. It is said he regretted his actions before he died, but the "damage" had already been done.

    Time for a History Lesson

In 1987 the Glock 17 came ashore to the USA. “Damned” as something that could pass through metal detectors (false) “Combat Tupperware” that would self-destruct (false) and finally so “non-traditional” it would never catch on (false)’ its magazine held 17 rds of 9mm. At this same time Berretta...

AR advice, pick two to pass on.

I read more than I post, this way I learn. The old adage comes to mind :They only thought I was a fool, until I opened my mouth, then they knew. The purpose of this thread is to "pick two" and "only two" aftermarket additions to the basic AR that have helped you, or that you wish you...

Which sight should I get for my AR-15

Yes I have severe astigmatism that I didn't find out about until I got older and stated looking for something besides irons. I believe B. Roberts once had a "sticky" about the speed difference between "irons", ACOGs" and EO-tech. It would be intersting to see him do it again with the Aimpoint...

Which sight should I get for my AR-15

Is there anyway you can find someone local to you that you can try each optic. I've tried the Aimpoint Micro, great product BTW, however "with MY eyes", I couldn't hit a playing card off hand at 25yds. Put that same card at 50yds and give me my XPS EO-tech and I'll drill it all day off hand...

    In "praise" of Geissele

I have always been able to zero at 50yds then shoot "hanging steel" out to 200yds at the private range I go to. With this trigger, the 200yd 6" plates are a "giveme" and the 8" steel plates at 300 are now a done deal. Can't wait until next week when we set up steel at 400 and 500 yds.

    In "praise" of Geissele

I "treated" myself to a Geissele SSA trigger for Christmas. I had a very good trigger on my Bushy prior to that, now I have a great trigger. You can check out their site at www.geissele.com and see what a Super Enhanced trigger will do, but for the "other 99%" of us the cheaper SSA is the way to...

    AR accuracy issues

You need to take two or better yet, three other friends with you to the range. At 50yds set up four "shoot'n'see" targets and compare the results from a five shot string of fire for all of you. If the firearm is "off" this will give you something to show to mfg., or you may find the problem is...

    Left Hand Shooters

I'm right handed, left eye dominate, so I've always shot a rifle as a southpaw. The "only" time this was a problem was when the first AR15/M16 series did not have a built in "shell deflector", but that was forty years ago. I don't notice the brass when shooting my "current" Bushmaster...

    Left hand shooter question

As an "aside", he'll discover, when he gets older, that AK's must have been designed by a "closet" southpaw.:D

    Cold Weather Prep

Check out Slip2000 EWL. Pat Rogers turned me on to this a few years ago, and I can't say enough good things about this product.

ACOG vs. RDS with magnifier on a Larue flip mount

I've been thru hurricanes on both the east coast and the gulf states. This is what I've seen. Your "range to engagement" will be under 50yards .01% with the remainding 99.99% under 25yards. An Aimpoint Micro will do just fine, remember to replace the battery every Feb. 29th. This is what is...
