"The family respectfully asks that you wear blue jeans to the services..." That says a lot about the kind of guy he was.

...Target, Backstop, and Beyond...FAILURE = Death

I remember reading about that case a few years ago. As I recall, the hunter was "unloading" a muzzle-loader by shooting it upwards. No sentence will ever bring back the young woman, but 6 months suspended to 30 days and probation seems awfully light for an absolutely avoidable negligent homicide.

    Ruger SP101 convertible in .22/.22WMR

I saw and inspected the SP101 at the gun store. The cylinder was .22 LR. The clerk mentioned that it came with the .22 WMR cylinder as well. When I got home I did some resarch and saw a discussion about different bullet diameters. In hindsight I think the clerk was talking about the Single...

    Ruger SP101 convertible in .22/.22WMR

I don't mind being corrected, :) but the cartridge specifications do say otherwise: 22 Long Rifle: Parent Case .22 Long Rifle Bullet diameter .223 in .22 WMR: Parent Case .22 WRF Bullet diameter .224 in The parent cases of the two rounds are different Tinpig

    Ruger SP101 convertible in .22/.22WMR

Very helpful and interesting replies. SteadyD and SDGlock23...you're right...going to the Ruger website I see no mention of an SP101 in .22LR/.22WMR convertible. I think the guy at the gun store was misinformed or perhaps thinking about the Single Six. Thanks to all for the good information.

    Ruger SP101 convertible in .22/.22WMR

I looked at one of these yesterday and it seemed like a very well-made and useful revolver. Reading around on the internet it was mentioned that although it comes with two different cylinders for the two different cartridge sizes, the bore has to be larger than it would be for .22LR to...

    Anyone make your own targets?

For rifle targets I buy rolls of 2ft wide white paper and cut off 2ftx2ft squares. In the center I mark the circumference of a 6" dessert plate and fill it in with black poster paint. For pistols, I use my used rifle targets with 1" dia. circles marked towards each corner. Do I save money...

Guns you paid way too much for, but don't regret it

When the Federal so-called AWB expired in 2004 I was looking forward to getting an AR15, but Massachusetts immediately enacted the same stupidity into state law. However there was a provision in the law that allowed an AR with the evil features to be sold and possessed if it had been legally...

    I have this old gun:

12 ga W.W. Greener shotgun made in 1917 that my Dad liberated from a cave under a Japanese shore battery at Yokosuka Naval Base in 1945. He was a Lt. in the Royal Navy on the cruiser HMS Newfoundland and led a landing party ashore to secure the battery before the fleet entered the harbor. The...

R Lee Ermey "Gunny" passed away!!

I always liked Ermey, he was the best thing about FMJ, and "Mail Call" was always highly entertaining. I had two Marine uncles (Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa between them) who thought Ermey was great but the idea of an "honorary" Gunnery Sergeant never sat well with them. They...

Would you stay or move, if gun laws changed in your state?

At the age of 74, I'm not going to choose my AR over my wife, four children, four grandchildren, and the homestead and construction business I've spent fifty years building. Because none of them are coming with me if I move to Texas. I'd love to live in Texas, or Montana, or Vermont, but just...

Lets see some homemade gun parts

Not a gun part, but a cleaning tool for built-up carbon deep in my AR bolt carrier. I ground down the sides of a hacksaw blade and flattened the end. Then I wrapped electrical tape to just less than the inside diameter of the carrier to protect the walls. A few turns with solvent and gentle...
