I have a Browning A bolt white gold medallion in .300 win mag (26"bbl). I've come up with a great deer/antelope load pushing a 150 grain accubond at ~3250 behind winchester brass and 83.8 H1000 (absolutely devastating between 125-434 yards...verified).
I'm looking for a dual purpose...
Thinking about buying a new Remington R25 in .308. I found one locally for a decent price. I've heard the triggers are junk. I intend to use it for hunting. Any comments/suggestions regarding this platform would be appreciated. Also, curious as to cost of trigger job and/or upgrade....
I've been full length resizing... I didn't even realize there was a bonded .243 bullet- thx! I've heard the partitions aren't quite as accurate out of the .243....
Thoughts on using 140 grain nosler partitions out of a 7mm rem mag on cow elk? Too light for shots under 300 yards (absolute max)? I'm taking a buddy out west on a whitetail hunt/ cow elk. Looking for a dual purpose round. If the partitions shoot well, will they suffice for both? Roughly...
Thanks for all the replies-- I think I'll try the 95 grain nosler ballistic tips. I tried the ballistic silvertips- factory first, than handloads. Ironically I couldn't get the handloads to shoot as well as the factory loads. Weird.... Also, will the ballistic tips shoot differently than...
Thanks to all who have replied. I've been using my 300 win mag with 150 grain accubonds screaming out of it. "Shortest" shot has been 370 yards. I've been hunting late season Does and they are skittery.... Thoughts on max range of .243 on smaller antelope??? My 7 doesn't seem to like the...
I realize each gun has it preferences, bullet weight, etc. etc. However, I've also found some "generally" work well with many guns. I've spent years working up loads in 7mm rem mag and 300 win mag. Unlike many, spending time working up loads is not my favorite past time. Tweaking them is ok...
Thought I'd give the resolution in case others have the same problem. I e-mailed Ruger via the link provided on the website and thoroughly detailed the problem. I didn't get a response after a few days so I called them. The customer service guy said to ship the gun back, if it was a factory...
Please post what you finally figured out- I'm considering a Tikka and since I posess the "anything that can go wrong, will" type of luck, I'd like to know! :)
I removed by rail and red dot from my Ruger Mark III and I obviously used to much loctite when I put it on. I used the removable loctite, however, I can't seem to get it off the barrel where it ran onto and dried when I installed the rail/sight. I've tried fingernail remover and it got some...
Well, Ruger e-mailed me back after I talked to the customer service hotline, said to contact parts department as they carry a lower v-notch for the rear sight. Plan on doing so tomorrow, hopefully free and I'll be back on target again!:)
Well, I called Ruger and they essentially told me to send the gun in-- likely cost of 30 bucks for shipping and 30 bucks + to fix it.....not too happy with Ruger right now....:fire:
I was shooting from a rest.....I tried a gamut of ammunition from standard to high velocity...the gun was purchased new in the box....I'll call Ruger and see if they'll send another sight.. In the meantime I pulled the front sight and threw some plastic under it to shim it a bit....we'll see...
:banghead:
I hope someone can help me out. I have a Ruger Mark III Hunter- it has the windage/elevation adjustable rear sight. I just bought the gun last spring and have been using it with a red dot sight. I since removed the red dot sight and attempted to zero it with the factory sights...
