    rimfire derringers... seriously?

I have had one for about 30 yrs mainly a conversation piece. I did shoot it when I got it. First time I ever thought it was actually good for something was while watching swamp people. Bruce got jerked off the boat by a huge gator. He keeps a 5 shot Derringer in his bib zipper pocket. No doubt...

Anyone using "used" bullets to melt down for reloading?

A good friend of mine puts a large piece of wood on his shooting range. I`m not sure how long he shoots into it ,but when it starts getting bad he splits it up. He then recovers the lead from his wood stove. I`ve never seen this done but I`ve shot the log. Always thought it was a good idea.

What is your favorite style of hunting?

Tree stands and as I get older (retired 2016) ground blinds. I enjoy spot & stalk but never had any luck. I blame it on my being 6ft9in tall and 350 lbs. Not many deer dumb or deaf enough to let me sneak up on them. Other guys are talking about leaf noise everything I step on makes noise...

    Reduced 45.70 loads for Contender

I want to thank everyone for the help. On the Hodgdon site under education they have a couple of ways to make reduced loads. I have found reduced loads in 3031 for a starting point. I don't plan to use this method but good to know.

    Reduced 45.70 loads for Contender

OK I see that now! I'm not very computer literate thanks very much for your help. I think I have a good starting point now. Where I reload I can step out back and try them out so I can try a couple at a time to see how they work.

    Reduced 45.70 loads for Contender

Thanks that is a very good chart. For trapdoor they start at + 1800 fps they do have a pistol section with loads starting at 1200 fps. But they don't have 3031 listed. Yes I can get other powder. I use 3031 in my 30.06 & have quite a bit, also thought it would be good to use same powder in other...

    Reduced 45.70 loads for Contender

I am planning a public land hog hunt to Alabama this spring. My wife and I plan to hike the trails & if we find sign leave the trails and hunt. I plan to carry my 45.70 Contender I haven't shot in over 20 yrs. I am getting ready to do my first reloads for it and am having trouble finding reduced...

    Liver anybody?

I leave it with the guts. I'm amazed at how much I learn on this site. I am not wild about liver but I do eat it occasionally. I spent two months in the Philippines this summer. You need to be open minded to eat there!!!! I do like boudin but when I made my own I use chicken liver instead of...

I shot this buck at 11:45 am because it was raining so hard I didn't want to get out of ground blind and walk to truck.

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

I have read this whole thread (it took awhile). I noticed a lot of new hog hunters are very worried about butchering a hog. I am going on my first hog hunt this spring. I have killed & butchered lots of deer (I'm from Indiana) so butchering a hog doesn't scare me at all. I'm going to Alabama...

I just read this whole thread and no one mentioned spam. Fried in a pan, grilled over fire, cut up in scrambled eggs, very versatile!!!
