Bergara has a process of rifling their barrels that leaves them virtually tool mark free. They are some of the very best barrels on the market for precision shooting. Sportsmansguide has the Bergara B14 Woodsman for less than $800. Check out youtube, some good informative vids and reviews.
I have a full size in 9mm that has been dead nuts reliable. It has well in excess of 5000 rds through it, factory, reloads all without a single failure. A good trigger and ultra reliable equals winner every time.
Having just bought a Browning X bolt I disagree with them being lumped in with the rest of those examples. I do think that a lot of people want a cheap rifle for their 2-3 days they hunt a year.
Picked up a brick of spp at the Eau Claire Scheels. Limit of 1 brick of each type. Plenty of all types minus small rifle with a nice selection of powders.

I bought a M4LE for my sons graduation and the thing has been flawless. It digests the cheap Tula steel and leaves the empties all in a neat pile. Definitely a great deal in my book.
