My Model 36 quest takes its first detour: Ruger Security Six

Congrats on picking up a security six. I've always wanted to own/shoot one of the "pre-GP" security/service/speed sixes. I have an uncle with one and I should bend his arm to let me try it out. Make sure to let us know how she shoots. I concur with rswartsell that the security is a better...

    Observations of Revolver Owners

I've been going to the range more frequently lately, and I have a couple of observations about myself and other revolver owners. I'm interested to see anyone has observed the same things... First, as a revolver owner, I never go to the range without at least one of my wheel guns. I have a...

Picked up a hitchhiker on the way home today

Centurian22, that math looks right. That's some impressive algebra at 1 in the morning. Baba Louie, I shot those targets two handed SA. I have yet to perfect my staged DA or quick DA shooting with any of my revolvers yet.

Picked up a hitchhiker on the way home today

Gordon Nailed It I'm always amazed by the body of knowledge on this board. So I took OldFluff's advice and popped the grips off. Sure enough, they are Herret grips as Gordon suggested.

Picked up a hitchhiker on the way home today

Range Report I went for a quick trip to the range today and the combat masterpiece lived up to its name. 36 rounds of Federal 158g LRN later here's what this hitch hiker did: 6 shots per target @ 8 yards I started at the (upper right-hand position) and went clockwise. As you can see...

Picked up a hitchhiker on the way home today

You called it SaxonPig, yes it is a 15-3. The grips are are new to me...no S&W medallions or markings on them. Did S&W ever ship 15s with custom grips?

Picked up a hitchhiker on the way home today

For some reason every time I go to the gun shop I pick up yet another hitch hiker! Never had a model 15 before: Would anyone mind dating this bum? The serial is #K9301XX. I found it on the consignment rack and it appears to be in mint condition, aside from needing a good cleaning...

    Replacement Screws and Shims

I didn't thoroughly inspect the S&W 36. Well, I took a good look at it, but I never thought of checking to see if I could move the cylinder with a bit of force with my thumb/index finger when it was at full lockup. Live and learn I guess...

    Replacement Screws and Shims

Thanks for the info Drail. I will call Midway about the screws and shims as it is difficult to locate what the exact parts are for this gun on their website. The carry up is causing me concern because I do a lot of SA shooting and I don't want to inadvertently pull the hammer in SA slowly and...

    Replacement Screws and Shims

I just purchased a 6" 686 and I noticed that the side screws have been meddled with and appear to be burred from not using the correct size screw driver. I also noticed it has a good amount of cylinder play front/back (about 5 thousandths). Normally this would turn me off but the gun has an...

    My new Revolver!!!!!Im so happy

Good job on the new acquisition! GPs are on the top of my list. My first revolver was a 6" stainless GP 100 (still have it) and its one smooth shooter. You will love that gun. I have never seen a 5" personally so I would concur they are rare.

    Carrying magazines for LC9

I got and LC9 and put a little over a hundred rounds through the gun--is it sweet. I ordered a holster and I'm looking for a single or double magazine pouch that will fit the slender 7-round single-stack magazines. It seems as though all pouches are for tall double stack mags. What pouches have...
