    Accurate 45ACP pistol

The SIG P220 will do what you're asking. One of the most accurate out of the box .45 acp pistols. Don't discount a good deal on a used P220. Some of the older pistols are not only good deals, but have a bit smoother action.

Dollar value on an HK USP Compact

That gun will likely get you between $550 and $700 depending on how desperate the buyer is for a stainless slide. The spare barrel is worth $100 to $150, again depending on the motivation of the buyer. At least that is what I've been seeing used USP Compacts going for in online postings...

Sold my Trailside, Couldn't hold onto the money for long--Ruger MK III Hunter

I'm sure the SIG will prove to have been more accurate. It's going to be hard to beat the Hammerili that SIG imported. However, from a longevity and support standpoint, the Ruger has it beat. I wanted to make sure I had a .22 that I would always be able to rely on and support over the years...

Sold my Trailside, Couldn't hold onto the money for long--Ruger MK III Hunter

I decided I would sell my Trailside which I have had since they came out. I really liked the way it shot and the light weight, but I always had concerns about it's longevity, especially with HV .22 ammo. I found a local buyer and sold it Thursday last week. In thinking about what to...

    New mini 14 project

You can tell the AC556 from the Mini by the location of the front sight. The Mini's sight is at the front of the barrel, the AC556 has a sight mounted back (mid barrel) to allow the front sight base to be used as a bayonette lug.

    What's the Difference Between a SIG P220 Generation 1 and Generation 2

I'm not sure what would be marketed as a difference between gen 1 and 2 SIG 220's in Geneva. In the US the the primary difference would be in the slides. Gen 1 slides would be made from a folded steel sheet with a welded portion forming the barrel guide and a breach block pinned into place...

sig 239 vs h&k usp compact

How large are your hands? The USPc has a shorter reach to the trigger than the 239. On board ammo capacity is 12 verses 7 in the .40. The unloaded USPc is lighter. The SIG is slimmer through the slide. You're going to need to hold each and see which fits you best. My Brother in Law has the...

    Every day knife recommendations

Spyderco Delica. Great size, light, inexpensive, slim in the pocket. Really can't be beat for every-day-carry.

Who carries the Ruger P345 or LW Commander concealed?

I carry a SIG P220 on a regular basis. This is essentially a Commander sized pistol with an alloy frame. In the right holster it is not hard to conceal with the appropriate attire. I've carried it with just shorts and a T-Shirt for outerwear and felt fine about my concealment. I use a...

    1911's overrated?

I've got to say that my springer mil-spec 1911 is very reliable, fits my hand better than any other Auto I own or have tried and required zero work. I have customized it lightly after confirming it was accurate and reliable. My only complaint is capacity and weight, but I'm not willing to give...

Ultra Dot Match dot vs v4

I can comment on the Ultra-dot being very nice, having good battery life, retaining zero, and being a quality product. I have not used the v4.

Have you ever been struck by a ricochet?

Yep, have a jacket fragment in my cheek from a JHP disintegrating on a steel plate and coming back to the line while I was sitting, loading a magazine. Didn't even know there was anything in my face until a year later when a Doc saw it on film while looking for something else.

how do you guys carry your full size 1911s?

I carry a SIG 220 most of the time now. Still large service auto. Comp-tac MTAC holster. Very comfortable and conceals well. However, when I do carry my 1911, it is in a COM 3 from HBE Leatherworks. The holster is similar to the Milt Sparks Versa Max II. I've had it for quite a while and...

    Any SIG P220 owners here?

If you like condition 1 carry and the light weight of an alloy frame, the pistol you are talking about is nearly perfect. With the improved external extractor you should be good to go. I've got an early P220R with the folded German Slide and railed frame. It has been very reliable. Saying...

AR 15 Free float -vs- standard handguards

The Omega is the easy option and it is gaining a reputation as a light and correctly dimensioned rail. That it is easy to install and priced competitively with other rail systems makes it more attractive. No special tools needed to install it. I've seen used ones going for good prices in the...
