    Bargain Gun Series: CZ P-10F

Elkins, that is astonishing. That’s practically Hi-Point money for a CZ. I really hope people don’t take the low price point to mean that the gun’s cheap. It’s a combat-worthy sidearm in every respect and, IMO, better than virtually all other polymer strikers out there. Thanks for the head’s up...

9mm AR - soot on my shoulder?

HSO: nope, the firing shoulder. The only way it can get there, I imagine, is to be blown out through the drain hole in the stock screw, unless there’s another explanation. Weird.

    Bargain Gun Series: CZ P-10F

Right? The performance per dollar is astounding. I’ve looked at some Caniks and no doubt they’re good, but for the same (or less!) money, why not get a CZ? I have a CGW striker and striker spring coming for my P-10; I’d rather have a tool steel striker and the 4.4 lb spring might decrease the...

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

@red rick and @Mark Mark, I was initially put off by the PDP’s “chunky” look but it has grown on me quite a bit. It’s distinctive and set apart from all the others out there (kinda like me, lol).

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

We’re all a bunch of enablers, aren’t we? Haha. Now I have to try the Springco recoil management system for the PDP. The pistol is really excellent as-is but if it can be made better, without compromising reliability, then I’m all for it. TT, do you recommend the standard or the light spring for...

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

@red rick, you’ve got me going now :). I am going to hit my LGS at 10am tomorrow and I am going to try every HK VP9 in the house. I think they have 10 or 12 in stock. If I can find a good one, I’ll buy it for a comparo. I might get a P30 to face off against the CZ P-09 too. It’s on! :)

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

I was surprised too, Red Rick. I may still get one because it’ll round out my collection of polymer strikers, but the examples I played with and tried out at the range - a VP9 and a VP9 match, were unremarkable in assembly (excessive lateral trigger movement), heavy and gritty trigger...

Colt series 80 Combat Commander 9 mm

Funny to see this come up. I’ve been thinking about the same gun and talking to myself about it… weird. I am keeping my eye out for one too but have no idea about price. There’s an electroless nickel ‘70’s vintage one near me that’s scratched up and loose as a Goose, and they want $899 for it...

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

Mark Mark, I am on a crusade to find the Holy Grail of plastic, affordable pistols. In my considered opinion, and on the behalf of my loyal and informed constituents, I say to you, verily, that the PDP is a better pistol than the Glock (17,19, 26 depending on size). It’s more accurate or can be...

9mm AR - soot on my shoulder?

Thanks! Makes sense. There *could* be a lot of soot in the buffer tube from ages past (the carbine was built in ‘93. I’ll try giving it a good cleaning first to see if that helps. I don’t currently reload for 9mm but this is a good reason to start! The $.02 solution is to cram an earplug into...

9mm AR - soot on my shoulder?

Haha! Thank you both. I have a couple of flintlock muskets that will pretty much blacken my whole body after 25 shots. And, yes 1K, I have no trouble with the ladies!

9mm AR - soot on my shoulder?

Hi All: So I was shooting my “new” old Colt 9mm AR carbine the other day; what fun blasting 1/2 size steel silhouettes at 50 and 100 yards with open sights and a bunch of 32 round magazines. It’s just so restful and satisfying, ‘specially with a Lula loader for those long sticks. Anyway, after...

Happy Birthday to the Late Skeeter Skelton

Happy Birthday Skeeter! Funny, just yesterday I felt compelled to crank out 200 rounds of the .44 Special “Skeeter load,” 240 grain LSWC over 7.5 grains of Unique. He must’ve compelled me from the great beyond. It’s too heavy for my Bulldog but I love it in my 629 4” and Anaconda. I used to love...

Walther PDP - Pretty Damn Phenomenal

Not yet, it’s coming Saturday. I also ordered one for my CZ P-09 and one for my S&W M&P 5.7 (not that that one needs any recoil mitigation!).

    Another Walther PDP Appreciation Thread

You’re right, but it’s kinda close? Shot yesterday at 100 feet. 14 rounds (last in the box).
