    Mag-Na-Port a 686?

Hey all! I'm considering porting my S&W 686+. I'm not really interested in the cons, as I've researched this already; no this isn't going to be a carry gun and no it's not on nightstand duty. This is a range gun. Mostly I'm curious to get folks opinion on the effectiveness of porting for its...

How important is climate control in a reloading room?

I'm not too concerned about match-grade consistency, just safety. I load to target shoot. My only concern is equipment or supplies getting ruined by heat/cold.

Well, sometimes. I'm just talking averages. =)

I'm in central Kansas. 100 degree summers, 20 degree winters.

How important is climate control in a reloading room?

Alright guys, thanks for the several responses. I specifically wired the building to use a wall unit if needed. It's a fairly small building, so I'll insulate the crap out of it and then plop a 10,000 btu heat/air/dehumidifier in it. That should keep it cozy for me and my gear.

How important is climate control in a reloading room?

Eam3, thanks. I've been considering a wall unit, combo heat/ac/dehumidifier. Now I'll be sure that whatever I get, a dehumidifier will be part of it.

How important is climate control in a reloading room?

I'm making an outbuilding on my property into a reloading room. It's a medium sized shed, framed like a house; I can easily insulate it. However, I'm not quite decided on how I want to heat/cool it. How important is it that reloading supplies be in a climate controlled environment? What's the...

My quest for the right fit... (Image heavy)

It doesn't work in the slightest! =D I know it's a dirty word around here, but one of the reasons I did what I did (not modifying the belt loop portion of the holster) is because I can reasonably conceal this revolver crossdraw in the colder months. In all honesty though, it's a crazy goal for...

My quest for the right fit... (Image heavy)

When I first bought my 6" Taurus 66, I got a Bianchi Accumold thumb-snap holster for it, pictured below. I determined quickly that a holster sitting this high on my hip with a 6" barrel was far too ungainly to draw, and set the holster aside. Recently, I traded my 6" Taurus 66 for a 5"...

    Lee progressive?

Oh, I'm sorry guys, I should have clarified. I've been loading for two years and currently have three single-stage presses attached to my bench. I'm certainly not a first timer, eyeing a progressive press. The turret looks nice, too. Does the 1000 have a bullet/other loading system?

    Lee progressive?

I just got my qualification at my range, which means I can draw from holster on the firing line, and exceed the normal 1 shot/second rule. This means, among other things, that I need to start bringing more ammo with me to the range. :D I've been considering a progressive press for a long...

My $800 S&W disassembles itself... JUST LIKE MY $400 TAURUS DID. >=(

The OP never removes the sideplates on his revolvers during cleaning. The sideplate in question has never been removed by anyone, as it was bought BNIB a couple months ago. Still though, I've calmed down. Thanks for the input. =)

Okay all. Thanks for your feedback. I was unduly angered as it was a very recent purchase. Loctite it is.

    taurus 66?

I had a newer 66. Couple of tool marks, but it shot straight and never really gave me any issues. I recently traded it on a Smith, but that Taurus is still sitting in my LGS's case. I'm considering eating the $100 difference in trade value/current price and just buying it back from them.

Okay, having taken time to cool down, more specifics: The gun is a S&W 686-6+, 5" barrel. It's probably seen about 500 rounds. They've been a mix of stout (but not max) 158gr Win296 handloads, and much lighter 138gr Unique handloads. If the screws are in the wrong places, Smith and Wesson put...
