I think she would resent the fact that you tried to hide it from her more than she cares about the actual purchase (she will find out eventually, you have to know that). Think of it as an early opportunity to establish some ground rules for your relationship, and see how she handles it. Better...
Don't go into a 10/22 thinking it will be less expensive. It's just like BRD, once you start modding the 10/22 you will easily sink just as much cash into it, if not more, than you would have on a dedicated .22 upper... and probably still end up wanting the dedicated upper.

They haven't published the list... yet. The editor said he wouldn't, that he justed wanted to prove a point. Hopefully he's already been convinced that it would be a bad idea.
I got the impression that they would have considered it more seriously if ANY of the permit holders had filed a complaint about their information being released. Apparently no one did.
Sorry to say, I saw on the news a week or so back that the paper won their case, and the court ordered the sheriff's office to hand over the list. I'll see if I can find anything online to post a link.

So I put a new scope on my AR-15 today, and was really surprised to find that the front site post, which is sticking up half way in front of the objective, is completely absent from the sight picture. I've been searching around for a basic scientific explanation of how this works, but I haven't...
