Near as I can tell mine is about as new as they got. Finish and accuracy are good. The trigger sucks and the wood is plain ugly.

3. The safety rim seems to be present but I see no patents anywhere on the gun.

I recently purchased a Celestron Regal 100. I think the 65mm regal in that line is in your price range. I'm mostly using my scope to watch ships on the river a couple miles away and some astronomy so far. I haven't gotten it out in the field yet, but have tested it as thoroughly as I can from up...
In my experience I have not noticed a significant difference with most of my gadgets(mostly GPS and flashlights). Flashlights die a little faster but even then I have had plenty of time to find new batteries with the dying light when necessary.

Most sears branded products have a model number something along the lines of 123.456789. The digits prior to the decimal point indicate the manufacturer. I seem to recall numrich having a cross reference table but can't remember now.
Usually a problem like you described tends to be dirty...

I found the Blazer brass to actually be cleaner than WWB in my .45. I have used quite a bit of BB in my .357 as well and found the Blazer .22LR to be one of the best rounds in my 10/22.
The brass used in BB is not cheap brass(at least not more so than other lines). i have toured the factory...
