    H&R SPORTSMAN Research

Near as I can tell mine is about as new as they got. Finish and accuracy are good. The trigger sucks and the wood is plain ugly. 1. HH022XXX 2. Mounted in frame 3. The safety rim seems to be present but I see no patents anywhere on the gun. 4. Cylinder release: Small push button in front...

    Nee help spotting scope

I recently purchased a Celestron Regal 100. I think the 65mm regal in that line is in your price range. I'm mostly using my scope to watch ships on the river a couple miles away and some astronomy so far. I haven't gotten it out in the field yet, but have tested it as thoroughly as I can from up...

Your outdated techy gun accessories.....wish you had waited.

I prefer to wait for things to become obsolete so I can buy them on clearance. I have too many expensive hobbies to afford the latest and greatest.

tip if you want to save a little weight

In my experience I have not noticed a significant difference with most of my gadgets(mostly GPS and flashlights). Flashlights die a little faster but even then I have had plenty of time to find new batteries with the dying light when necessary.

    5 in .44 MAG

I got my 5" 629 for less than $700. I liked the looks and balance better than the 4".

    Is a 7-shot .357 revolver more dangerous?

If you put enough powder in any firearm it won't fare well. I wouldn't worry about 7 rd revolvers. they actually use the same cylinder diameter or is it a larger cylinder? The 8-shot revolvers are N-frames to my knowledge so they should have lots of cylinder to work with. That link seems to...

Scarring or melting on bolt lugs? (pics)

That looks like a casting misrun that was in place prior to machining. Are those bolts cast? I could imagine billet or a forging ending up with similar defects but that is less likely. It was definitely there before machining the bolt. It's probably not harmful in that location, but it wouldn't...

    Sears & Roebuck Issues

Most sears branded products have a model number something along the lines of 123.456789. The digits prior to the decimal point indicate the manufacturer. I seem to recall numrich having a cross reference table but can't remember now. Usually a problem like you described tends to be dirty...

    Grips for a Taurus 85

I have a 605 with the taurus combat grips. No problems controlling the gun with .357 loads.

Is there any sort of warranty?

    44 Special target amo for a S&W 629

The 125 grain and lighter restriction on the .357 is a .357 specific issue as far as I know. If you loaded lighter .38 spl in the same gun I do not believe it has the same problem(or slower .357). I just load .44 mag cases with my light loads. That way I don't have to mess around with the...

I really want one of these NAA Ranger(but in .22LR) as well a Schofield replica to go with my H&R 999 sportsman.

Blazer Brass vs Win white box

I found the Blazer brass to actually be cleaner than WWB in my .45. I have used quite a bit of BB in my .357 as well and found the Blazer .22LR to be one of the best rounds in my 10/22. The brass used in BB is not cheap brass(at least not more so than other lines). i have toured the factory...
