working on a mauser blank receiver

As far as I am aware there are two versions that were made, one that takes springfield bolts and one that takes k98 bolts ,mine are the Mauser variety. The main difference on mine are the bolt stop areas, they have no tangs for the bolt stop screw so I will have to get creative there. These...

working on a mauser blank receiver

I got them from old western scrounger , they had a sale on before Christmas for $30 each, sale might still be on ;) steel is English EN9 same as SAE 1055 here in the states so carbon steel that if cold quenched is tough enough for anything that I want to put through it , they are original parker...

working on a mauser blank receiver

:banghead:, I have picked up a few of the Parker Hale large ring Mauser clone castings to build rifles from and I started on the first one today, after a short time on the mill and a little more time filing I got a 98 bolt to fit perfectly so I next went to cleaning up the front of the...

    35 Mag ????

Thanks for the tip paul , but if you read the entire thread you will see that this was done a long time ago , I have been shooting this rifle for a while now and reloading successfully for it , the only thing that was still in question was the actual nomenclature or given name for the round and...

    35 Mag ????

Mystery is now completely solved , it is definitely a 35 Ackley magnum 40 deg ,the larger of the two that Ackley made . So the only other thing that can get me excited now apart from shooting it , is that any normal gunsmith would stamp "35 Ackley mag" or something similar on the barrel so...

hex drive nut wearing out PROBLEM..I am having a problem with the hex drive nut wearing out and causing a mis-indexing situation , this can happen in as little as 200 rounds , the drive seems a little tight and spongy as it goes to turn the shell-plate which can make the action rod slip through...

    Forming brass for 8mm gibbs.....help

35 whelen save the headaches of split necks , false shoulders , necking up to neck down , just run 35 whelen brass (brownells had some a while ago) straight into your gibbs dies ,load your rounds with normal loads (8mm06 data works well) and fireform , you will find hardly any drop in accuracy...

    35 Mag ????

That makes sense , I guess back in the day there were many more skilled gunsmiths that could actually do that kind of work not just the AR assemblers of today:rolleyes:
