    .308 Garands?

    All you need is a .308 barrel.No alterations to the oprod are necessary.A mag block is purely optional,to prevent attempting to load .30-06 ammo by mistake.I have two Garands in 7.62 X 51 (.308) and they are my best shooters.

    I have a Trijicon TA11J-308G on a S & W M&P 10 and like it a lot.I do also have a SCAR 17s with an Elcan DR 1-4 on it.Both are world-class scopes and worth their cost,but quite different.

    I wanted a Scar 17 the instant I heard they were going to make them for civilians,and I got one.Pretty much for the same reasons you want one except for zombies.I use 5.56 for them.Get a black one,they have much greater accuracy than the Fat Dark Earth ones.

    A compass in the stock and this thing which tells time

    I have an old Remington 721 in .270 Winchester,made in 1949.It has a compass in the stock,and it works just fine.I've probably had it for 30 years,and never got lost while holding it.

    Mini 30 who has one?

    I've had one for 20 years.Mine is a stainless Ranch rifle and I have a 4X scope on it.Don't think I have ever shot anything but Wolf in it.Works just fine with good mags,and since Ruger is now selling 20 rounders,should be good to go.By the way,it should be greased like a Garand,not oiled.
