How many rounds of a certain ammo must your pistol cycle before you trust that ammo?

Warp - so what did you end up carrying in that Glock? It seems crazy that a Glock would be unreliable with a standard mainstream SD load. Have you tried Gold-dots?

For me it's 50 of a defense load AFTER firing 200 rounds of cheap target ammo through it in the SAME session. This way the gun is hot and dirty. I figure if it will cycle and fire 50 SD rounds without incident after all that target ammo it's going to be fine to load for SD after a good cleaning.

Plain Ol' XD - no love?

If you have small hands then the XDM version is worth the extra cost x10. If you have average size hands or larger then maybe not.

    XDM -OD green versus black

    I ordered BOTH - a 9mm (for relatively cheap practice and SHTF ammo availability) in OD green/stainless & a .40 (for carry/HD) in black/stainless.

    XDM -OD green versus black

OK...I am contemplating an XDM as my next handgun purchase. I've decided it WILL be .40 caliber and it WILL have a stainless slide. I am torn between the OD green and the black. I am oddly attracted to the OD green. I don't know why...can't put my finger on it but it just looks GOOD to me. So...

Red insert sight Blade for SS Bisley?

The front sight blade that came on my new Stainless Bisley Blackhawk 5.5 incher is BENT. I figure if I have to buy a replacement blade I may as well get something a little higher viz. I think I'd like a red one. The blade is pinned in place. Where can I get one that will drop in?

New 3 inch SP101 Range Report

The trigger sadly is now MIM...that's why the back is hollow looking. The over all size/frame is exactly the same. Has to for my boned holsters to still work. I dunno about last years model but my 10 year old SP101 has a different font/lettering style on the barrel. I like the new lettering better.

    MIM parts?

On my new Bisley -Ruger moved the billboard BS to the UNDERSIDE of the barrel. The ejector rod housing even blocks part of it! NICE. You can't see it at all without looking for it now. Big improvement.

    MIM parts?

Yeah...I don't have anything like that on my Rugers. It's looks just like the spring/mechanism of my older SP101 bought about 10 years ago. They don't put the lock on all their guns.

    MIM parts?

I have...nothing there I would have noticed when I put on my Hogues. I'm about to clean the gun right now and I can tell you there is no lock. I don't think Ruger puts the lock on ANY SP101 models. I think it's on that ugly ass LCR thing though. And I have tried some 3rd party grip panels on...

    MIM parts?

I for one will NOT be buying ANY S&W revolvers with the stupid lock/hole in the side plate. I have a 686-4 that I love but it's a model before MIM and before the silly lock. Anymore only Ruger gets my new revolver money. I just got a new SP101 (my 2nd) and a new (March 2011 fired casing) .45...

New 3 inch SP101 Range Report

I finally got to shoot my new SP101. I bought a 3 incher as a "companion piece" to my tried and true 2 & 1/4 . The 2 incher will now be my primary Summer Carry gun while the new 3 incher becomes my Winter/Jacket weather Carry Gun. While I love the two inch gun I always thought the 3 inch looked...

Why are revolver grips shaped the way they are?

No sure haven't. Never occurred to me.

Why are revolver grips shaped the way they are?

I agree those grips are NICE...the only reason I couldn't use 'em (same as on the SP101) is I MUST have the tiny bit of metal behind the trigger guard covered as it hurts my hand to contact that under magnum loads.

Why are revolver grips shaped the way they are?

YES. Ruger did with the GP100 & SP100. It basically has NO GRIP FRAME -only a simple post design. The grip can BE ANY shape/size a grip maker can dream up. That is the ULTIMATE revolver grip innovation. Too bad the grip makers have largely dropped the ball here - especially with the GP100 With...
