Not sure who is making this for DMPS, but I'll pass on this. A hard pass. And though Atlantic is good for standing by when there is a problem, I really question the direction AA is going - more questionable product, at more premium pricing.
An executive order is a tool that directs an agency to do something. It has the force of law with that agency. However, an executive order cannot exceed or conflict with a law passed by Congress. A president cannot direct an agency to do something it is not allowed to do, nor can he obstruct...
Yep, my 30 round USGI mags are all 1980s vintage.
My Colt 20 round USGI mags are Vietnam era. All running fine. 50 years or so old, and all humming along.
Nice looking pistol!
I decided not to enter for the second 1911 CMP drawing - I've seen some wonderful 1911s coming out of CMP, but also some that I just would not be happy about for that price point. The replacement slide possibility was a bugaboo for me (let's just say that my luck of the...
So, living in one of these stay-at-home lockdown states is driving me crazy - all the indoor ranges are closed for ... months!!!
I'm in the middle of several build projects, and its driving me nuts (as I'm sure others as well).
1911 upgrade. I've was in the midst of tweaking one of my EDC...
Jumping on the Dan Wesson Bandwagon as well.
The DWA2 is a basic 1911A2 (augmented with Novak sights), but is a great pistol. I have not seen it for less that $1,200, so its kind of at the upper of "mid range" on price, and definitely at the high end of mid-range on quality. A lightly used DW...
I had one ORM in stainless - my first Colt 1911. That delicate frosted stainless that marred or scratched even with a toothpick. It was a rattletrap, and my first Springfield (same timeframe) was honestly superior all around.
But ... it was reliable, OK in the accuracy department ... and I...
In my opinion - and experience - most "mil-spec" 1911s will be reliable. The one's I have worked with are Colts, Springfields, Dan Wessons, Kimbers, and a Argentine clone. The only brand I'd "knock" is Kimber ... just because I had some problems with their products, and their customer service...
I've got a few AR lowers to build, plus two 1911s I've been meaning to tune up. Reorganize the gun room, inventory ... Reloading, if I get the time/quiet with everybody being at home. And take the younger kids out to the back yard for BB/pellet target fun.
life's too short to go around hating things. If it doesn't work for you, fine move on. If a guy looks like a clown using it, fine don't look at him and move on.
However something is a poor design then by all means speak up.
I'll admit -- yeah, I've acquired a few pistols because I was inspired by a movie.
The Untouchables ... got me interested in classic 1911s ... caught that bug when the movie came out, and had it ever since.
John Wayne movies - yep, I had to get a 1895 lever action and SAA.
The Matrix. No...
OP - like some of the other are asking - what era did you grow up? (Of course, my wife would say I still haven't "grown up").
I have a 1970s vintage colt 1911 ... just a fine, fine pistol.
I had a 1991 Series 80 from the the mid 1990s. That was not their finest, I'll have to admit...
I have a variety of "all of the above". Random observations ...
M57 - a fine pistol but I am not fond of the magazine safety. They don't take "standard" Tokarev TT-33 magazines. The m57 different adds on additiional round in the mag over the TT-33. To be honest, my favorite Tokarev variant...
