Gentlemen, All good tips; I think I got the hang of it. Yes, it's beginners syndrome. When I first got my Hornady LnL AP, the case feeder was sort of a pain to get right, but once you get used to it and have it adjusted just right, you can really fly. Only difference was no bouncing BBs!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I had read some tips earlier before I got the press and actually the first thing I did was put the tray under it. But I certainly wasn't ready for all of the bouncing BBs! I guess I'll stick with the dummy hull method.

Thanks RF, that's pretty much what I'm doing. I just can't believe that's how it's done. You go through the MEC manual and they make no mention of using dummy hulls or saying you're going to make a mess. They even have a video that shows a guy running it without pre-staging dummy hulls...

So, I think I get it. You need to buy caliber specific Redding dies and then bushings if you want to go up/down a few thousands for a specific neck tension you are trying to achieve with a specific bullet. Also, the Redding dies do not use an expander mandrel either? You would need a Lee die...

The Redding die looks interesting to me. I want to neck size .303 British, 8x57 Mauser and 30-30. Can I buy the Mauser neck die, then just bushings for the other calibers? If yes, what about different size mandrels? Thanks, Craig

RC, They have been tumbled for 4 hours already. If you look closely in the extractor groove, you'll see it as well as the staining on the main body of the case. Before tumbling, they were really grimey, especially the extractor groove. Could be a blueish gun powder perhaps?

Here's one for the experts. Yesterday while doing my "brass walk" at the range, I happened upon a bunch of .308 brass that had what looked to be rifling marks on them and a blueish tint as well. What rifle does this? Are they safe to reuse? The marks have "scored" the brass a little bit...
