I think a .25 has a chance. After the bullet bounces off your target, there's a chance he could step on it it might roll like a marble, making him slip and fall.
If you're concerned about defending yourself against 2 legged varmints, then the larger caliber probably makes more sense. If it's more of a wilderness survival, then the .22 (although I'd add a .22 rather than the 9mm pistol). Avoid bears.
But -- when you do happen upon that super find and scoop it up before anyone else does ... and then 3 people try to buy it from you before you can get out of the door with it ... then it all becomes worthwhile!

My understanding is that a pre-war (or war-era) Model 10 can discharge if dropped on the hammer. The block preventing that situation wasn't installed until after the war.
