Tikka T3X Super Varmint .223 report

Yeah, don't get discouraged about bad accuracy with the 62 grain bullet you tried or believe the CS guy at Beretta. I have a few 1-8 twist 223/5.56 barrels and they all shoot 69 and 75-77 grain bullets very well, and while I don't have all of my reloading/shooting notes in front of me at the...

Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

It's been over 4 days but I have picked up a Gen 2 Ruger American in 223, 100 rounds each of AAC 5.56 75gr BTHP and and 77gr SMK's, a Trijicon Credo 2-10x36, and a Ruger Hawkeye African in 416 Ruger.

rifle for new youth hunter, .357 mag, 44 mag or 243.

The 7.62x39 will work great as a deer rifle, I have a CZ 527 in that caliber. It's a great walking around gun and perfectly adequate for shots out to around 150-200 yards on deer size game. Mine really likes the Tula 154 SP ammo, S&B 123 SP, and Hornady Black 123 SST. It will shoot the Tula and...

    Direct thread vs QD

With the recent eForms predicament and work travel slowing everything down, I was able to certify today and get everything submitted. Any takers on how long it'll take a trust with 2 RP's who both have DoD clearances to get approved?

Ruger Mini-14 vs. AR-15 - Which one and why?

I have quite a few AR's now in several different calibers, I've had 3 Mini-14's but don't anymore so I guess that shows my answer. I like the Mini-14 but it's aftermarket support is limited and it's performance is lacking for my usage. The AR is better in both respects and is more comfortable...

Am I th only one who would like a good reasonably priced AR type Bolt gun?

I've actually thought about this for several years and what I was envisioning was something that used the standard bolt with a modified bolt carrier to still provide the camming action with a K31ish bolt handle that pivoted fore and aft with a tail section that moved to block the firing pin to...

    Direct thread vs QD

I'll make sure I do reach out once I make a decision on which to get. Thank you, and I'm looking forward to seeing your workmanship first hand, I'm sure I'll be pleased.

    AR Sling

I really like the Magpul MS slings, I normally buy the MS4 specifically, but if you just want a decent GI style sling them these work pretty good. I have a couple I bought for shooting appleseed events. https://www.amazon.com/AmmoGarand-Green-Garand-Pattern-Cotton/dp/B072M6WBN4 I've also had...

    Direct thread vs QD

I actually think your Gyrex would be better for all of the guns I will be using these on, I just can't convince myself to put a muzzle brake on it in case I decide to shoot them unsuppressed, with the exceptionof the SBR's since they're under 12". That's really the only reason I am considering...

    Direct thread vs QD

Just ordered the Accipiter and Five by Five. Now I really have to make a decision on the mounts. Right now I'm torn between the Gyrex and the Rearden taper mount.

3 or 6 MOA Red Dot for Pistol?

If we were limited to red dots like the one in you picture I would agree with you, but with the newer slide mounted red dots that weigh two ounces or less I disagree. This was my first duty sized pistol with a red dot and it took less than a month of practicing with it before I was able to...

    Shot timers and split times

Suppressors do play havoc on shot timers. I've seen them fail to pick up suppressed 10.5" ARs in 5.56 if I was holding the timer near the ejection port with the microphone facing it, even at indoor ranges.

3 or 6 MOA Red Dot for Pistol?

Yeah, astigmatism plays a big role in what works best for you as well. I have a very mild astigmatism myself and even though red dots work fine for me green dots are much clearer. Also, if you wear polarized lens then you will likely have a bigger problem seeing the dot as well with either red...

    Holosun Reflex Sight-proper sighting

Like others have said it really comes down to preference but I do prefer the dot and target centered in the glass even with my pistols. One of the big issues I have seen with shooters who are used to iron sights switching to red dots on pistols is their head and shoulder position while firing...

    Holosun Reflex Sight-proper sighting

I just shoot it off hand at a know distance usually 10, 15, or 25 yards and adjust based off of where the rounds are hitting, at most I will rest my strong arm against a wall to help steady it a bit if I'm shooting at 25. I also don't do groups to sight in a handgun but single shots and adjust...
