    Ruger American 6.5

Anyone have any experience with the Ruger American? Particularly the predator series in 6.5 cm. I'm strongly considering adding one to my collection but didn't want to spend money on something I wouldn't enjoy.

    Hornady ELD-X

I don't like the accuracy of their btsp and I love the way sst shoots but they never leave a good blood trail and I've had quite a few bullets explode and deer run way further than they should after being shot. Granted I've only used them on about 4 deer ranging from 50-300 yards, none of them...

    Hornady ELD-X

anyone have any real world target or hunting experiences with these bullets yet? I just loaded my first 10 last night for 7mm rm and have high hopes. I've always been happy with what Hornady bullets do to a target but not so much with their hunting performance. Hoping these things will be the...

    Variation in load data

Does anyone have any insight as to why load data varies so much between different manuals and manufacturers? For instance, I was loading a new batch of 7mm Rem Mag the other night, and I looked into my Hornady manual and into hodgdons website database. What hodgdon listed as a starting load was...

    Stock question

I have never bought a new stock for a rifle and I was curious as to what brand I should look into. I'd rather it not be anything too expensive being that the rifle isnt a very expensive one. Long story short I bought my ex a savage axis youth .243 with a froofroo pink camo stock she just had to...

    500s&w vs 44 mag

By just as capable, I wasnt referring to pure energy or velocity numbers, but is a 500 S&W going to make a deer or elk any more dead than a 460 S&W? Yes you are right, the 500 is a clear winner in energy. Like you say, it shoots a bigger bullet at an equal speed. Thats a no brainer, but the 460...

    500s&w vs 44 mag

I dont own one, but have shot both at some point, so take this for what its worth, but I too have been contemplating one of the bigguns. I am leaning on the .460. Just as capable as the 500. Just as noisy and flashy. Great for hunting. Supposedly accurate to 200+ yards. The big thing for me...

    Solvent? Oil?

Bull, I too enjoy the smell of hoppes. Always have. I love the smell of hoppes, old wood, and gun powder that has developed in my reloading/gun room. Guys that use copper removing agents, how often do you do that? 100 rounds? 1000?

    Solvent? Oil?

btw, me personally, after a range session I zip a bore snake with oil and solvent through a couple times and call it done. "deep" clean the old fashioned way after the gun has been exposed to bad weather, multiple range sessions, been sitting a long time, etc.

    Solvent? Oil?

I'm really curious to see what cleaning products everyone uses on their rifles and/or handguns. I've always just used Hoppe's, but there are so many other solvents and oils out there, I was wondering what everybody else used. Also, feel free to briefly describe your cleaning procedure.

    Handloads at indoor range

Thats a crap rule. Especially the not picking up your own brass part, thats in a gray area I would almost call theft. There is a range near me that doesnt allow handloads either. I never go there. Want to hear the icing on the cake though? The ammunition they try to get you to buy to use at...

    So. Much. Powder.

Hazmat is usually over $30 My entry fee to the show was $10 I also got to enjoy myself browsing guns, accessories, and reloading supplies for a couple hours, so I wouldnt have felt it was a scum fee even if I didnt buy anything. I'm not seeing your point here?

How many of you load near or at max

I havent been loading as long as some others, but so far I've only had one load I had to push to the max powder weight listed anywhere. It was a .243. I slowly worked the load up to max at which point the charge was a compressed load and I finally got my desired accuracy. All the other rifles...

    Noob Question

EVERY gun is different and handles different loads in different ways. I ALWAYS make sure my rifle loads are accurate to 1/10 gn. I have noticed a change in accuracy in as little as 1/3 gn. Was it enough to no longer hit vitals? no. I have yet to make a load that wouldnt hit vitals on an animal...

    No Reloading Brass on Ebay...?

I dont believe ebay is very gun friendly. However you may do well with amazon. Plus 2 day shipping on prime stuff. I've seen some things cost more on amazon, but I've seen some significantly cheaper. I've bought many dies, and reloading tools from ebay for 25%-50% less than the big box people...
