I have a Super Blackhawk I purchased to be my side arm when hunting
Wondering who makes a quality holster that will fit my needs for hunting
The barrel is 4 5/8 long
Was hoping to find one under $150
Does not have to be a western style holster
I'm much more interested in function than looks

While I like simply rugged if it's for field use I'd much rather prefer three persons model. Check out Lobo gun leather, Ray I believe his name is makes fine work at a steal of a price.

He did, but he has retired.

RETIREMENT TIME!

Old Lobo is retiring, effective November, 2015. That means that I must stop taking new orders now (August 23, 2015) in order that I can complete pending orders in time. The website will be maintained and e-mail links will be running for the coming year so that any warranty issues can be taken care of.

Another vote for the Galco SAO (Single Action Only) holster. I have one for my 7.5" SBH. Like the other poster said, it can be worn cross draw or strong side.

Another vote for Simply Rugged. The pancake style is convertible to crossdraw and one can add on straps for a chest holster, if necessary.

This is a 4 58" Blackhawk cross draw. The photo is several years old and while a bit scuffed and used it still works just fine. It's from a custom maker at http://levergunleather.com/

It's by far my favorite desert rig. Works well while running around in my jeep or on foot.
