I have two, 4 lb jugs of WW231, made maybe five years ago and purchased about the same time.

Where would the lot number be marked on the container?

The front label has the typical bar code with numbers beneath it, the back label has a small vertical "t0106" that looks like a permanent number code for the label itself. One end has a small orange sticker with "4060407363", looks like a stock number from whatever store it came from.

Lot number???

Thanks.

You're welcome.

The lot #s for Hodgson always starts with the weight (1=1 lb., 4=4 lb., and 8=8 lb.), then the mo., day of month, the 2 digit yr., then usually a 4 digit batch/lot #.

I can only suppose their 14 oz. would fall in the #1.

Not sure why they use the sticker on the larger jugs. Their 1 lb. are inked on the side edge of the label.

So after seeing this thread I checked some Hodgdons lot numbers.

But I came up with these two that don't make sense, both are H110

103154178
103154179

Seems to me they forgot to put a 0 between the 5 and 4 on the lot #.

Gearhead Jim, you're welcome!

Dana, I agree, those numbers don't make sense. Are there spaces where maybe the ink didn't transfer to the label? I see sometimes just a faint print of a letter.

I uploaded some pictures. One is a 1 lb. (Dec-07-2011) and the other is an 8 lb. (June-03-2003).

Edit: Sorry for the sideways/upside down pictures. They were upright on my computer.

Here is a photo showing the lot numbers on the two bottles of H110 and one from a bottle of Universal.

Maybe two digits are missing on the H110.

Dana, that is interesting. Either somebody didn't set the stamp properly, twice, or Hodgdon, at some point, changed their lot numbering system.

I tried to search the web for more info. No such luck.

Thank you for the pictures. Now I'm curious. :)
