I obeyed the White House request today

I didn't talk about it too much but I fired some .357 with my uncle so he could get a feel for it. He thought my 158gr 1000fps rounds were pretty hot, didn't have the heart to break out the 125gr 2000fps rounds.

He's bad breakins lately on his sheds and outhouse property and his wife is home during the day so he is looking at options. He's old fashioned and I think even if he settles on a glock like I'd want him to he won't do it without trying revolvers.

Let my BIL shoot my wife's Para Ord. 9mm and my nephew shot her .22 auto pistol. That was after family dinner. SOP for our family gatherings usually involves several hundred rounds of gun control, but it was raining today.

I had a discussion, and some hands on, non-firing, demonstration, regarding various grips on 2 different revolvers affecting control.

So, yes, I believe I complied too.

Other than all the discussions above, sight picture, grip hold, etc., etc. There is another form of gun control???Coogs.

I unfortunately know this "the hard way". I got a backfull when I was about 12 from a farmer who didn't appreciate our model rockets landing in his field.

I discussed finding a youth model 1100 in 20 gauge for my Daughters 18th birthday come April 2016 with my Dad.

Attourney related a story to me years past. Seems a older guy had break ins so he loaded up the 12 with rock salt. Let one blast loose on burgler and killed him graveyard dead. Charged with murder. Good lawyer got him off as he stated under oath he thought it wouldn't kill any one. Jury bought it and set him free.

The only gun talk discussed at the Turkey table was my BIL busting my chops over buying a rifle chambered in .243win. You see, he hunts 120lb deer with a 338winmag and figures I'll lose every deer I shoot with a .243win because of its hyper velocity with a tiny bullet.

Tell your BIL that your .243 is a phased plasma rifle in the 40 megawatt range!

You could pester him that, since he goes after a 120lb. deer with a .338Winmag., that you're surprised he doesn't have to pick the remains up with a sponge and a tweezer.

Good one. Yes, Gun Control means using both hands! (although lately I've been practicing a weak-hand, one-handed grip with my pistols...)

He might want to look at a shorter-barreled lever carbine in a pistol caliber too. .357 from a 16" 1892 is easy to shoot and extremely easy to place shots with. Rossi makes one that sells for under $550. Light, handy, and the wife might like it too since it seems she's the one that might have to use it.

That carbine is much shorter overall than any common four-shot pump shotgun wearing an 18" barrel. Also much lighter in weight.



In other news, the group with which we broke bread yesterday at Thanksgiving dinner has a positive view on the 2nd Amendment. We've had various gun-control discussions before. The conversation centered mainly on football, being grateful for what we have, and more football. Of course I was the only one that broached the topic of motorsports...

No gun control discussions here as we all pretty much know how to shoot and do it safely. We did get into shotguns and how nearly every mesquite bush in the country has it own blue quail covey this year. I'm sure Obie is disappointed with us. Sorry, he'll just have to get over it.

In the interests of compromise, you two should buy .35 Whelan rifles.

I avoided the topic, my brother and his friends are pretty firm anti's. Reasoning doesn't work with these people.

Gun control is an extremely divisive subject. I can't imagine why you'd bring it up at Thanksgiving unless you just wanted to provoke a fight.

Ive known 2 anti's in my life and I can't imagine sitting down to eat dinner with either one of them.
