What are your gun plans for 2016?

Had a .460 S&W on the want list for a while. Yes, I know... how many people buy one and fire 2 rounds and trade them in. Probably shoot 99% hot .45 Colt and a smattering of .454 Casull and the occasional full house flame thrower. I look at it like shooting .38 in a .357.

As at least one other response said, I want to finish out the rifles I have. I have two rifles built, and only one has an optic. I only own one sling, and I don't like it. Plus I have my latest build about 3/4 done, so I have to finish that, too (buy a lower, throw in the parts kit, put the whole thing together, buy optics & sling).

Then I want to start stocking up on ammo. And then start practicing with all my guns, have been on hiatus.

Finally, I want to pick up another handgun, only have one at the moment. Current front-runner is a Beretta PX4 compact. Actually it's a tie, still need to buy a Ruger 22/45 threaded.

Further out than that, I think it'll be time to start on bolt guns. Don't know what I want to do on that score yet, default seems to be buy a Remington 700, strip it down, then build it back up, but I've got a lot more reading to do.

I'll probably buy a second .300 BLK upper somewhere along the way, too.

LOL, forgot I'll probably want to start buying reloading gear, too. For the .300 BLK.

ETA: reading the thread, another comment reminded me that I want to get an AK at some point, just to become familiar with the platform. It's too bad the days of low price AKs are gone, because that's really all I want it for.

Probably won't even get a third of this done in 2016. :)

I like this thread, but I have too many hopes, dreams, plans to list them here. Since I retired the number has grown exponentially. I shot, collected, hunted, reloaded, accessorized, rebuilt more in 2015 than any year before. So maybe my plan for 2016 should be to repeat 2015.

I am where I want to be, I have two complete setups for 9mm, and 45 caliber.
What that equates to is, 2 guns that share magazines in 9, and 2 guns that share mags in 45.
Both setups have a High Capacity magazine in the main gun, and a smaller gun of the same type and caliber, "of course", all have Night sights and either a laser or removable light for each of the main guns, with 2 spare mags, minimum for each, "I do have more mags for all, like 6 per gun. My Carry guns are Glocks, the 19 with a +3 Ghost mag for 18+1, and the Glock 26, with 10+1, 12+1, and 15+1 with x-grip. The X-grip only goes on when it's reload time or my main gun has failed, Hasn't happened yet, or I need to arm another person. Which is legal in unusual situations, like taking fire. The only modifications to my guns are grip tape, and night sights, aside from mag extensions, and the option to slide on a laser if time permits. I also have lights for both guns, and lasers. This doesn't negate the Tactical light that is a must for every type of shooting scenario other than bright sunlight. Silly as it may sound to some, I have almost 45-70 or so of bullets available and ready to go should the need arise.
The way I see it, I am not dying because I ran out of ammo, and was forced to run like a duck while some enemy of the state took aim and wacked me. An extra LB of junk can be added with a Thanksgiving meal, so since my guns are 20 oz, I can carry a little more and still be on par with a stock 1911.
Do I walk around like this in the heat all the time, "no", only when I am going off the reservation, otherwise a single 7+1 PM9 or Glock 26, or one of the small 9's will do just fine with 2 spare mags. No light during daytime or anything other than my EDC pocket knife, "a Karambit".
I have found that a pair of Tactical gloves "on sale at HD, for $5.00 a pair" are nice to have when you have arthritis in the hands.
Home Depot has been doing these crazy sales that blew my mind a few times, Like the 850 Lumen LED flashlight, with 3 c cells, for 10 bucks. It popped up on slickguns one after noon last week, I just jumped in the car and when I got there no one even knew what I was talking about, "except a Blond", Yep "a Blond", she verbalized they just came in, as all of the store help charged to get one of the 11 that came in. Great light with 3 position switch, my wife thinks I am nuts, but don't most of them?
I went on about the 10 dollar light all through dinner as she tried to ignore me.
Yesterday it was the gloves, the exact price, $8.88 for 2 sets. of the best nylon and leather, for the money I could imagine, they feel like shooting my large caliber guns will be more enjoyable. Hint, look in those table top items as you walk in, that's where the stash is.
The only thing I can see buying is a JM 12 Gauge shotty, the xp, perhaps for the car, I sold my Benelli, for no good reason, other than 5 years of no use.
I would love to get a 30 round 9mm sub gun, but I am not going through that nonsense to get one, and to spend 1,500 for a semi auto copy, is just dumb when my Glock will do the same thing with a 33 round mag in it.

winchester 94 "basket case" project to be completed.
80% AR completed and mated up with a 300/221 Fireball (yeah...I know..300 blackout....Id rather call it that just to confuse people)
Savage rebarrel for the wife to a more pleasing shooter
25-35 Contender carbine barrel

that should keep me busy for a bit.
plus if anything comes along that looks like it should belong in my safe...well... :D

I really need to spend some more time evaluating my goals for 2016. Off the top of my head this is what I think:

Find 22lr ammo
Find someone to repair the crack on my IHC M1 Garand stock
Add a few magazines for my 22/45 and a find a few of the Pmags for Glocks to try out
Get my hands on a Ruger Precision Rifle to evaluate whether or not to go this route
Reload for relaxation
Shoot more often

A new and proper bed for my I.H.C. Garand.

Got to get around to some of my long neglected projects regardless of expense or difficulty:

The correct stock for my International Harvester Garand... Ideas?

Extractor for my DURA-MATIC .22.

Restore my octagon barrel Marlin 39.

My only gun plan is to get an S&W 647, the PC .17HMR. That's the only one on my list, but that doesn't mean that I won't buy any others. But I really have many guns that I haven't fired in years. But when I get the urge, there they are.

I also have to seriously concentrate on my upcoming retirement. I have been saving, but need to do more. My employer is going through some ownership changes and there is a strong likelihood they will consolidate computer systems, thus making many employees redundant. I am 66 and don't plan to look for another job, so I need to be prepared.

Back in post ten I mentioned there was no plan. Sure enough we are down in Columbus visiting kids and grand kids as well as other family and a S&W Model 17 came along at a great price so I bought it. Most of my guns come along that way.

Get a Sig 320C.
Get an IWB tuckable holster for 320C.
Build a.257 Roberts on my Mauser small ring action.
Start reloading. I have most of the equipment.
Stock up on 9 mm ammo.

Setting up my wife her own gunsmith work shop. Working toward building more guns than buying. Buying reloading equipment and stock piling reloading components. This is my short list, will still have to contend with impulse buys.

in no particular order-

finish AR10 build- unsure of caliber/upper configuration
order a Sig320 (don't own any polymer guns yet)
order a new 9mm barrel and mags for my X5 in 40S&W
order a new 9mm barrel and mags for Gray Guns P226 in 40S&W

take delivery on SBR 9mm AR with Glock Mags (just waiting)
take delivery on Omega Suppressor (just waiting)
take delivery on Osprey 45 Suppressor (just waiting)

just put deposit down on 1911 pistol smith class

What are your gun plans for 2016?

Likely the same as they were for 2015, which would be none. There are a few guns I have been wanting so if they come along they come along. I would like to repair my 6 PPC bolt gun built 20+ years ago and broke the bolt on. For me it is just how things play out. Been, for example, wanting a nice S&W Model 25. Should one come along before I see a bolt I can use then I get it. I simply don't have a real plan. So I guess it is a matter of Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be). :)

Well, drove down to Columbus for the Christmas Holiday with seeing my siblings, my kids and the grand kids. I had no intention of buying a gun. My son's friend had a real nice S&W Model 19 for a nice price. I now own another Model 19. That's how it goes with me. The kid showed me the gun, I liked the gun and I bought the gun. There was no plan. :)

Well...it depends. I've been thinking about starting GSSF, which would mean adding at least one more Glock to the stable. I ought to shoot a match with my G17 to see if I like it before I invest in another one though.

Beyond that, it depends on what new stuff shows up next year. I'm hoping for a VP45, and I want to see what cartridges Ruger chambers the No.1 in for 2016. A nearby store has a couple of 1-A's in .270 Winchester and they're tempting but not quite to the point of "gotta have it." So, we'll see.

Practice more (range time, training, carry, hunting ...) with the three I own.

* 336A .30-30
* 597 HB .22 lr
* SR9c .. guess

Cut/crown the 336 to 17".

Potentially add a .223 bolt.

That's about it.

Do more hunting, target shooting and classes than I did this past year.

Tally up the ammo I shot this past year and replace it plus a case per caliber (don't worry, I've consolidated down to 5).

Pick up another 1911 because it's been a few years since I bought another.

Build another AR just because they're cheaper now.

Earlier today, I remembered that I forgot  :uhoh: to add something.

I'm going to add a Leupold 2.5X to the 336.

Thin out the herd by getting rid of at least 1/2 of my 22LR's. With the "new normal" prices, it makes a lot less sense to shoot 22LR.

9mm PCC

either a Kriss Vector or GMR-13.. Only because I have dozens of Glock mags already.
