Well, I recently acquired a pair of nice S&W's while on a little visit to Florida. The price was too good to pass up on at a little less than $500 for the pair.

Both are supposedly Florida Dept. of Corrections trade ins. While I'm normally a S&W wheel gun man, these little gems are a joy to shoot with no recoil.

I understand that to stay competitive with the market, polymer had to come into the equation. It's a shame these aren't still made.

Just thought I was share.

The one on the left is a 6906. On the right is a 5906. Should be able to find mags for them at a gun show fairly easily. The 5906 mag will fit the 6906 but will stick out the bottom. The mag for the 6906 is too short for the 5906.

You can get new factory MAGS at Brownells for both of them. I own 4 5906 models. They were police turn ins and the price was right when I had some spare cash as well.;) I have several of the S&W SS pistols in different calibers and they all are tough. My favorite is a well used 645 that is scary accurate in my hands.:D

That was a deal. I carried a 5906 close to 10 years as a duty weapon. It was a good gun.. I don't miss it, though.

Take off the mask, put down the gun and then go to confession for "stealing." Couple a Hail Mary's and an act of contrition. should do it. You did great. I'm a big fan of Smith autos: have 8 (39's and 59's) plus a couple of plastic S&W's. But I gotta say the 5906 is my fav. Like 'em big, heavy and stainless. (Just discovering Stars....also big and heavy, not necessarily stainless, but solid shooters.)

I do enjoy these guns. I didn't even haggle on price! Strictly what the dealer was asking. Of course they had a table full of these things so volume was on their side.

I still own a 5906 but traded my 6906 for a S&W 28 Hwy Patrolman. 3rd gens are hard to beat for their all around appeal. They are among the most reliable pistols I have ever owned. Will eat any garbage ammo and kindly ask for more. 500.00 for both is a phenomenal deal.

I owned a 6906 for several years it was a good gun but I prefer striker fired pistols. You can get 59 series magazines brand new from Mec-Gar and I think they make a grip extension for the 6906 so you can use the 15 round magazines.

I wouldn't sell those guns because you'll never get that deal again

Hopefully they have better trigger pulls than my old Model 59. Traded in that boat anchor along with $50 for a new 9mm Shield. Now all is good.

I recommend a very large glass, 1/2 straight lemon juice, 1/2 cider vinegar. That should get the :D off of your face!
