I can't rationalize how Ruger took the Single Six and made it a 10!!!
6 was good enough for Matt Dillon., j9hn Wayne, and The Lone Ranger!
I brought A long barreled "I" because Cheyanne ans Matt had em and 6 rounds got the bad guys!
Range targets are set up in 5 shot strings, the Ruger can easily be loaded like others and held to those 5 shots..
On the trail I load 6 also scored all plinking too.
I bought the revolver to slow downammo use, not speed it up
Hell I coulda got a Ruger auto cheaper but I wanted some class, some Nostalga and great sights! The 6 1/2" bbl was a bonus and with the WMR cylinder,,rifle-like accuracy and range
How could Ruger blow it?

John Wayne got more than 6 out of his Colts many times

Too true. If there is any place that should have a legally-mandated magazine capacity limit, it's the movies.

As far back as the 1930's some revolver makers were trying to compete with .22 pistols that had 10-round magazines. To a degree that's still with us today.

Personally I'm satisfied with six, so long as personal defense isn't part of the picture. But I'm not likely to assign that role to a .22 revolver regardless of cylinder capacity.

And I'm satisfied after 6 shots (or sometimes 5) to stop and reload - even if that tin can is still charging me. :D

Others of course may feel differently, but frankly I couldn't be less concerned.

Different strokes for different folks - and to each his own. Go back and have fun with your Ruger, and ignore the rest.

I'm just fine with six rounds in a 22 revolver because it's strictly a plinker for me.

But who cares? Buy six shooters if that's what you like. It's no hair off my head if others like more rounds.

I kind of like my old (1969) 9 round High Standard Sentinel Deluxe...

Plinking out wheels of .22 at the range is a joy.

Especially since .22 rimfire is so "cheap and easily available"... :scrutiny:

I'm a true traditionalist, not one of these hipster wannabee traditionalists. Number of charge holes isn't important. Blued steel and wood is. :p

I had a 5.5" Single Six back when I first started shooting. It was the first gun I bought, also the first gun I sold. Compared it to the new Single Ten I'd FAR rather have the Single 10. I like the Gunfighter grips far more, the FO front sight is one I can actually see and the extra 4 shots is a very nice bonus. I love and respect history and like the nod towards history that the Ruger single actions represent. But they have improvements to the traditional Colt SA's and are not built true to the original design from the 1800's. The coil springs, adjustable sights and other features are great improvements to the original design. I can see no downside to the further improvements in the Single Ten.

I'm a traditionalist too

Zero ! I've NEVER seen a rig like that! That is really serious engineering! That would a very heavy pistol...but the cool factor? outstanding

Think what a holster for it would look like. :D

Maybe I'm missing the joke but Ruger still makes the Single Six with a capacity of 6 shots per cylinder. They also make the Single 10 for those that would like a larger capacity gun. Should we be upset that Ruger is offering us more choices?

Gun manufacturers are in business to make money. If there's a demand for 10 or 25 shot revolvers they will make them.

If anybody is "traditional" here, it's me. Somehow I manage to get by with my single-shot .54 caliber percussion horse pistol!

All my old Colt SAA Six-shooters are really just Five-shooters, if you load them right with an empty chamber under the hammer!!

When the day comes 5 isn't enough?
Guess it was just my time.

AZAndy, they had speedloaders back in the day. Depending on your position in society they were called valet, batman or Second.

I can't rationalize how Ruger took the Single Six and made it a 10!!!

Bullseye matches I know are 10 shots in a round. Beyond that, the Single Six is much bigger than the 22 Bearcat and might as well take as many rounds as will fit.

Mutant ninja zombi tree rats are running in heards of more than 6 perhaps ?

On another note that is the first one I have seen of the 1855 wild 48 round shooter. Amazing ! (assuming that ea. cylinder is chambered for 6)

Blah blah blah!!! I'm all about tradition but when it comes to a good .22LR, more is better! I don't pick up a single action to "slow down", I run `em fast! :neener:

Six, nine, or even ten shots; makes no difference to me. I just love those single action .22s!

Bullseye matches I know are 10 shots in a round.

Yes, but those 10 shot stages are shot in 2, 5-shot strings.

Beyond that, the Single Six is much bigger than the 22 Bearcat and might as well take as many rounds as will fit.

I suppose some see it that way, which is the reason Ruger offers the option. On the other hand, 6 is plenty for serious business like plinking tin cans.

Fortunately both sides of the issue will find models that match their expectations. This thread is a tempest in a teapot. :D
