I just got a 550b and I was looking at vids on set up. I noticed one guy did not get strong mounts and attached the press to a board that he clamps down. I got the mounts...question: has anybody screwed the mounts to a board then clamped it down? If so does it work ok? I like the idea of being able to move the press is need be. Thanks for any reply

I don't see any problem, IF, you can clamp it fore and aft. I have mine hard mounted to the bench but have given thought to getting some bolts and wing nuts so I can store the press out of the way when I'm not reloading.

I have a sdb w/strong mount and wanted out of the way to use my other press. I know the sdb is balanced to were i remove the four bolts and will prob. get wing nuts for e-zier mounting back to work bench as i have bad legs but do stand over my dill. for charging/loading. My T-7 is just right of it. When i place it w/S.Mount on other bench it sits like its on the shelf! cool, Just sayen good luck!

My Dillon 550b has the strong mount. It is permanently mounted to my bench. With the powder measure, seems a little to large to make portable.

I am interested in making my Lee Classic turret portable. It seems small enough to mount to a heavy board and clamp down to any bench or to a Black and Decker workmate.

not a dillon, but for several years I had a turret press on a board I brought out and clamped to a coffee table. It worked great, just need to be sure to countersink your bolts on the underside. I was using a chunk of 3/4" plywood, but I also used a 2x6

I have a 550b with strong mount.

I permanently mounted the press to a 2x10 board and use c-clamps to mount the board to my loading table. works great.

I like to change things around occasionally and just didn't want to drill holes in my nice oak table. My arrangement has been very satisfactory.

You might check out the new mount from INLINE. The mount stays on the bench, with interchangeable top plates (where your press or whatever attaches to).

I never liked the strong mounts I had on one of my 650's, I just mount them all to the bench instead.

That said I have mounted presses to plates and boards before to be clamped in various places to be used.

I have a strong mount bolted to my bench with a base plate from Pat Marlin. All my presses have adapter plates on them, undo 6 screws remove press install new press tighten 6 screws and your gtg.

Oh man!....I'd be afraid I'd rip the kitchen island out of the floor!

You might if it came from Ikea, if you can sit on your counter top it is strong enough for an SD.
