Ruger P90

Nice looking P gun. I have an old P94 I've had since 2000. I've moved on to other guns now but I still feel attached to it. No experience with the P 90 but from everything I've read they are reputed to be very accurate.

Good find. I carried an agency-issued P85 back in the day. In 2013, I came across a P95 (same gun, but with a frame of polymer instead of aluminum) for $300 in like-new condition (no box.) I'm glad I bought it. I actually seem to shoot it better than I did the '85.

Excellent pistol. Honestly, one of my favorite .45 handguns of all time. It depends on the individual gun and the shooter, obviously, but as a rule they are very accurate guns. Massad Akoob was a P90 fan and you may be able to google some of his early articles on the subject.

I ran mine for 15 years or so with zero problems other than having to replace a weak spring once. That weak spring never affected reliability though, and I will tell you that gun had tens of thousands of rounds put down it and was the most reliable firearm I have ever had. I actually am looking for one to purchase again! The gods honest truth is that I would rather have a P90 than a 1911, both in terms of reliability and in terms of shootability. I know just about everybody scoffs at me for saying that, but I just genuinely think it is that good of a pistol. Thats my personal choice as opposed to some 1911 hatred, but the one I had just flat out sold me on the platform.

The P series always struck me as ranging from "wow, that's ugly" to "Pontiac Aztek with a grip," but if I was looking for something for heavy use it's right at the top of the list.

I started having misfires with a P-89. After I replaced all of the springs it has ran fine. I would replace the mainspring and recoil spring just because it is cheap and easy. The firing pin spring is a bit of a challenge.

At $239, you scored big time !!! I follow the local classified sites pretty closely, and these typically run (in Georgia) in the $350-400 range.
And, I've heard nothing but good about the reliability and build quality of these things. You did real well !

I have a P-85 the thing is big and ugly. It will eat any 9mm ammo and goes bang everytime I pull the trigger.

Friend of mine had one and it was VERY accurate..shot entire magazine into about 6 inches at 100 YARDS!! center mass...kid u not...taking time mind you but still I found that pretty amazing

I have a P90 I carried as a duty gun for about 6 years. The only reason I stopped was because the agency I worked for went to issued guns only for on duty. Well pleased with the gun and still carry it sometimes.

When I first started shooting handguns a good friend of mine (who I often went shooting with) had a blued P90. It is a big and heavy gun, but it was 100% reliable and quite accurate.

When I decided to get an auto to go along with my then only gun (a Taurus 82 revolver), that gun heavily influenced my choices. I ended up with the 9mm version, a stainless KP89. My P89 was also 100% reliable, but disappointingly it was quite inaccurate (shooting range rentals which I was completely unfamiliar with I'd be more accurate than with my P89).

A few years later I gave a stainless KP345 a try hoping to find some of the "magic" of the P90. Very accurate, not very reliable.

Unfortunately, when my friend developed a serious mental illness and decided he shouldn't own guns he took the gun to a pawn shop to sell. I would have very happily bought his P90 from him.

My assessment of the P90 is that it is probably the best auto Ruger ever sold, and even though it may be a bit big for its capacity and it may be a tad homely, it may be one of the best .45ACPs anyone ever made. If I ever see one around here at what you paid, I'd jump all over it (heck, I'd run, not walk, to get it at $100-150 over what you paid for it).

I have never shot or held a P90. I did own a p89 a long time ago. It never thrilled me that much. Even with my big hands it wasn't very ergonomic, very accurate or fun to shoot. It wasn't until I became more acuainted with other hand guns that I realized how much Ididn't the like P89 trigger.

My P89 was definitely reliable though! Never had ANY functionality issues with it!

I have the P90 with the decocker. It isn't a gun for the action shooting sports but it is the gun for next to the bedside home defense use.

I put lots of rounds through mine back in the day when I didn't have so many pistols to play with and it was very reliable, even that day when I accidentally used rifle primers in my hand load. (It touched off 95%)

I have had one for years - never any issues with it no matter what I have run through it.

Good find. I've had the P90DC for a few years, as other have stated, very reliable. I've never had any issues with it.

The OP got a Ruger P90TH. It was a Davidson's exclusive. I bought mine a few years ago new from Cabela's for $500 minus discounts and gift cards.

The P90 is a fantastic shooter and is built like a tank. I have two (the P90TH and the KP90), both are awesome guns that shoot well and pretty much eat any .45ACP you feed them.

$239 is a true score for a pistol like that. I personally think the P90 is a decently attractive pistol, it is not 1911 pretty, but better looking than a Glock or Springfield XD.

Notice the repeated nods to reliability? My old P90 was so reliable that it would run rounds that other guns would choke on. I can recall several range trips where people would complain about feeding or stovepipes or what have you, and the P90 would spit them out like there were match rounds. Honestly, its one of my favorite guns of all time, and despite not being as aesthetically nice as most other guns, it is my favorite .45 auto.

It's pretty in the way that a tank or RPG is pretty. It simply works. I've never found a load it wouldn't feed and shoot, and it's very accurate. And if it gets a ding or scratch, it just adds character. You scored.

I've got one too. Almost as clean as yours. Good shooter and so reliable it's boring.

The magazine latch spring is impossible to find. So be gentle with the mag insertions as you may have to resort to duct tape if the spring breaks.

OrangePwrx9, I broke a mag release spring twice. Once sent it back to Ruger and literally got overnight service. The second time I called them and they sent me one.

Great guns. I have one and normally keep one as my car gun, although the Tokarev is currently on that duty.

Yes they are! I've owned 2 P90 stainless (plus a couple of P89 and P95s). The first 3 rounds I ever fired through a P90 resulted in 3 headless copperhead snakes.

Mine is stupid accurate.
Sure it's ugly and the trigger is no 1911 but it sure shoots.
I like it, reminds me of my first cars, a K-car and an 84 Escort.
I've sold "better" guns and kept the Ruger.
