Good morning,
I just won an auction on GB for one of those Pietta 'Navies' in .44. I already have an 1860 Army (among other .44s) but the 'stainless' finish, half fluted cylinder, shorter barrel and engraving caught my eye. It should be a fun revolver to shoot.

congrats on that revolver that's a very nice piece! I hope you post pics of it when you get it :) well I am hoping to get my tracking number today as they have hit my account for payment so next should be tracking number. this is my first time to buy from them I wonder if anyone else here the high road buys from them?

I honestly don't know why anyone wouldn't want a .44 Navy. If you're gonna be that much of stickler for period correctness, why buy an Italian replica at all?

Checked the tracking number and it should be here tomorrow. Looking forward to this one. Also, when it rains, it pours. My 1860 Army has been goonerized and should be on it's way back as well. ;o)

Midland, where's the Option C - All of the Above? :D

Some might cringe at this but consider that the wood fillers can always be slightly re-shaped to fit your hands if you find the difference to be significant between any of the three guns.

Well I did it I sold my 58 Remington today along with a couple other guns.......

I'm rather saddened that you sold the Remington. Half the fun of this stuff is having examples of each of the major significant guns so you can see and show the changes that were going on back then.
 
don't worry bcrider that Remington had tons of creep and without having a drill press so I could drill and install a set screw to adjust the creep out well it was much easier to just part with it and in time instead of another brass like that one was i'll get a steel frame one! plus I got the 51 in today but rather upset at Dixie gun works as they said it was skill level 1 well theres no color case hardening on this frame and after looking at brownells kit it was high at $543 plus the high temp gloves was another $64 so I was like nope not happening so i'll do with what I can afford to do!!
 
For me, the Navy points and handles better. I've owned both, I just don't care for the longer grip on the 1860.
 
On the basic level, the Colt has the cylinder stop and trigger on separate screw-in pins, while the Remington has both on one screw in pin.
