I wasn't paying attention to the illustration when I ordered a new Lee Safety Prime set, so I was really surprised to see the new shape - not sure how "new" it is since I haven't ordered one for several years.

My first instinct was that I didn't like it - it was different:confused:. As I think about it, maybe with the lower profiles it will be easier to use, but it isn't easier to load the way I use a funnel. May be easier directly from the primer tray.

Anyone have experience with the new triangle shape? Comments?

easier from the tray but I don't like because ive had a few turn sideways in the tray and get stuck and also the "Lock" doesn't lock real well as I had several slip through I didn't want in the arm. for the cheap price I cant complain.

Sk, does the set still come with 2 trays? 1 small & 1 large?

I watched the YouTube video from Lee. It does look like filling from tray to tray may fit easier.

I emailed them about upgrading a old round tray safety prime and they replied that it would require new trigger mechanisms(and I assume tubes also) too.
I think there is only 1 size tray and tubes.

Yes, at least the set I purchased has both large and small primer arms, plus the parts for mounting on the press. I wanted another small primer tray so I can keep one each loaded (and marked) with SPP, SPMP, and SRP primers and reduce one more area of possible error. Couldn't find a way to purchase just one tray, but I'm glad to have the spare large tray for the future.

Good to know you can buy just the trays, in case I find I like the triangle better than the round. At the time, I wanted the complete assembly.

As per my post #4, if you have the round tray safety prime you cannot just swap in the new trays. This is probably due to the safety prime round trays spout is offset to the side instead of being centered.

The triggers are interchangeable... I have the new and old one and the new ones stick like crazy, So i swapped the trigger and it works perfectly. The trough is different though, so that's the issue you will run into. The way it holds the tray has a different design.

I like it much better than the square tray model, still prefer the "less safe" old round model.
