I am starting a build and one site I peruse has 10 different brand LPK's listed. They range from about $53 to $155. Any suggestions on which ones (if any) to avoid? They are (alphabetically):
Anderson
Bravo
Bushmaster
CMMG
Del-Ton
Doublestar
KE Arms
LBE
Spikes
Windham

So many choices. I also have a source for DPMS and PSA.

The best one I've used is G&R Tactical, but it's not regularly available these days. They also sell Colt, which I haven't used but assume is good.

Spike's and PSA are both pretty good in my experience. I also used one Doublestar a few years ago and it worked fine.

I have had less than great experiences with DPMS and Del-Ton. Both were a while ago and things may have improved, or not.

If I were buying today I would go with the cheapest of PSA, Spike's or ALG Defense. ALG in general is a high quality company, but the initial reports on their LPK are that it's merely good. However, it shouldn't be any worse than good, and the price is reasonable:

Some kits are offered without a trigger/hammer for a little less money. Since most people put an aftermarket fire control kit in, why spend money for a trigger that will go on the parts drawer? The remainder of the parts are basically the same from everyone so shop price.

I agree with Kp321.

The primary difference in the kits is the quality of the trigger. Higher priced kits generally have better triggers. If you plan on using the trigger in the kit then get the one that suits your budget. If you plan on a separate trigger then get a kit without trigger and shop based on price.

Good luck.

Instead of getting your parts one piece at a time, go to the PSA website and buy a complete rifle kit. It will save you money on shipping and we'll come with everything you need, except lower, rear sight & magazine

Same here, not good results with DPMS and Del-Ton but that was 7 years ago. Very rough kits.

I have had excellent LPKs from PSA, Spikes, Daniel Defense and CMT/Stag (from BCM). I've had excellent luck with ALG QMS triggers and would expect their complete LPKs are just as good.

PSA has great sales on their kits and of course other AR parts. You just have to catch them before they're out of stock.

Go to G&R tactical, buy one of the Colt LPK's, sans trigger group, then pick up an ALG trigger while you are shopping there.

My cheap PSA LPK had a gritty 9 lb trigger and the mag release broke. Maybe I got a lemon. They ignored my email to customer service about the mag release as well. Still like their rifles.

I have a rock river LPK with a 2 stage NM trigger in one lower, upgraded the trigger to a Geissle ssa-e sometime later (very nice trigger BTW)

I have a BCM LPK with an enhanced trigger on order now for a second lower.

Odd, the LPK I just got from PSA a month or so back has a nicely polished trigger and has had no issues at all. Additionally it arrived missing one takedown detent pin, I emailed their customer service group and they not only replaced it but sent me 3 pairs of the pins with springs. Overall fantastic experience and products.

Had a DPMS one about 10 years ago and it was gritty and felt terrible, just not good.
