A friend just recently purchased a Colt SAA first gen, but it has the half cock notch broken. Anyone know a good guy to weld it up and cut a new notch?

I'm certainly no expert on gunsmithing and/or first generation Colts, but is it possible to acquire an unbroken 1st gen hammer? Might be cheaper? Just shooting in the dark here.

Chances are slim to none finding one any better then the one you have.
Unless it has already been repair welded & recut.
Either way, it wouldn't be cheaper.
But an orginial 100% OEM hammer would probably be several hundred dollars.

I passed the info on to him, and the balls in his court from here on. He will send it to one of those mentioned to be welded up. One offered it done for 60 bucks...which seems like a fair price to me...if he is any good at it.
Not a big job for someone that has a tig welder and a little knowledge.
