First true Glock exp.

I was probably the last man in this country under the age of 90 to have never fired a Glock, but today I got a wild hair, and went down to rent one. My choice was the G21. First impressions were, Big gun with rather large handle. The gun sat very weird in my hand, took some getting used to. The trigger pull was strange also, I dont know if I liked it or not, something I could get used to though. Accuracy for me was no problem, I actually did a lot better than I thought I would have.
Overall I'd rate it a 6.5 on a scale of 1-10. I can't bash them anymore, and I would feel comfortable with a glock of any caliber on my hip. With some Hogue grips, a match grade barrel, and Novak night sigts that'd be a mighty fine pistol.
But I'd still rather have a Sig.

Yeah, the G21 and G20 have the largest grips... I find them at the edge of what I find comfortable, but the G21 is still easy to control. All the other Glocks have smaller grips.

A bit of things can be easily done to make the trigger feel better... there's a connector called the Ghost Rocket that adds a short reset and drops the pull weight by a couple pounds, but it still feels kinda mushy.

The Ghost Rocket is a little mushy for my taste. The Ghost Ultimate offers a reduced, less-mushy trigger pull, but doesn't have the overtravel feature of the Ghost Rocket. Scherer also makes an excellent, crisp-lettoff 3.5# connector for Glocks.

Sounds like my first outting with a Glock 21 . . . "Man, this thing is huge and uncomfortable but she sure does shoot nice!"

I'm a devoted Glock fan (not one of those "Glocks are IT and nothing else works EVER" types) but I'm pretty much limited to the G17 and the G22 (haven't tried the .357 models). The compacts and subcompacts don't fit my hand very well and the G20 and G21 are just too darned fat in the grip. Having said that I'm not a big fan of the .40 (in any handgun) so when all is said and done, after I got used to the grip angle and the trigger I'm devoted to my G17. My favorite feature of any of the Glock line is the low bore axis.

Now my P220's . . . they're pretty and shoot nice, but that's another post.
