Favorite 'Odd' Caliber

My local Sportsman's Warehouse has lots of 6.5x55 ammo, my favorite odd caliber also.

My 338-303 British.. most fun low cost caliber i own.. Brass is almost free and never ending and i cast my own bullets.. about 5$ a box of 20 is what it costs me to load.

My favorite odd caliber that has factory ammo available is the .30 Remington AR, not to be confused with the obsolete 30 Remington.

For a handloader only cartridge my favorite is called the 7mm Valkyrie.

Another vote for 300 H&H. A classic that still works great!

.358 Winchester, short action, 200 grain bullets at a decent speed.

For me, it's a toss up between the 25-35 and the .32 Rimfire. It was always a treat when Grandpa brought them out for us kids to shoot

6.5 x 55 Swede

32 Remington, Hard to find but a great hunting round. I make brass from 30/30 and cast 170 gr bullets.

My favorite up and coming odd caliber is the .22 tcm. Ammo is not as hard to get as it once was.

two of my favorite lever actions. top rifle is a 1876 in 45-60 with a ex bore, bottom rifle is a 1886 in 40-82 with a ex bore and i reload for both and have killed deer with both. the 40-82 was a real learning experence in reloading. both will shoot three or four inch groups at 100 yrds with their favorite loads from a rest. its a joy to take old rifles (1876-133 years old,1886-124 years old) and make then spit fire and lead. and they will kill game today just like they did over 100 years ago. TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT, just as your great,great grandad did. eastbank.

My oddball is the 32 Winchester Special. It's a 94 carbine. Remington stills loads ammo for that caliber but I think it's done by one old semi-retired person who is only there 1/2 the day Wednesday on alternate weeks during late Summer and very early Fall.

6.8 SPC; one heck of a deer caliber.

50-70 and 405 WCF for the larger bores. 22 WCF for a small bore.

The closest thing I have to an "odd" caliber would be .30-40 Krag.

Either 32-40 or 310 Cadet with its outside lubed heeled bullet.

Nice rifles Eastbank. It would be a real experience to bring one of those old boys out on the hunt.

For me, it is my Tikka Swede. Although I have been able to purchase both Federal and Wolf ammunition at my local Fleet Farm store. I am not sure 6.5x55se is odd enough to count for this thread. I am working on hunting hand loads in 140gr bullet types now.

The old caliber of .218 Bee is my oddball. I have my dad's Model 43 and model65 Winchester rifles chambered for it. The last time I seen a box of commercial ammo at Cabela's, it was priced at $85 for a box of fifty. That prompted me at the time to get into reloading.

Used to have a .257 Roberts as a teenager that I absolutely loved. My dad built it out of a Mauser action.

Lost that rifle when my step-mother sold it.

That thing was awesome. I've often thought about getting another one. It was the perfect middle ground rifle. Trim and light for carrying. Had enough 'Umphhh' for medium sized game, but it didn't throw you around.

.225 Winchester in a Model 70 Winchester, shoots well, only a little less potent than a 22-250.

My favorites for hunting are a Ruger number 1 in 9.3x74R, and an 1893 Argentine Mauser in 7.65x53.
