Simply make a clean head shot and it will not matter what bullet:D

This is what I have tried to start doing. Got this one the other day with a head shot. Used Hornady critical defense 38 +p ( what I was carrying at the time while hanging tree stands for deer season).

Another vote for 148 Grain Wadcutters. Match grade accuracy, excellent terminal performance, inexpensive to load and shoot.

Also, another vote for head shots :).

Thin jackets, light bullets, hornady xtip, and Sierra has a new hollowpoint out now but I can't remember the weight, it's a lead nosed hollowpoint, I can't wait to get ahold of some but they're supposed to expand more reliably than traditional hp, of course if they're too heavy..... I think with the right shot wadcutters should work, I remember takin a woodchuck with a .36 percussion revolver and left skull and brain matter EVERYWHERE!

I vote for a good 148 grain seated hollow base wadcutter loaded backwards.

Back in the day, they were about the only thing you could get that would expand when shot out of a snub .38 Special. They were pretty bad about leading up your bore if pushed hard, but you might be able to overcome that problem if you powder coated 'em.

Fired from an old six inch .38 Special Colt's Official Police, they were extremely effective on swamp jacks and chicken killing 'possums.
