Hey everybody, I've had my P938 SAS for a couple of weeks now, about 450 rounds through it so far with no problems but I noticed the finish on the very front of the frame rails has worn off completely.

I assume this is normal, but wanted to check anyway. I've been using the supplied grease for lubrication, seems to be good stuff.

In my experience with Sigs the wear will quickly taper off after 600-700 rounds.

Mine wasn't reliable until the finish wore off on the front, I was about to send it back to SIG, but glad I gave it a few more outings first.

I have a P238 and P938 with about 400 rounds through both. They both show wear on the front of the frame. I called Sig and they said this type of wear is normal and will not continue.

As with the other comments my P 938 and P 238's are displaying a normal amount of contact wear on the finish but thousands of rounds later they are just fine. CNobbe, now you need to watch Sig for a special on their short (non target) .22 conversion kit that will turn your pistol into a hand full of fun. Mine replicates the size of the 9mm and came with fine nights for $199.
Welcome to the P 938 world and happy shooting.

Mine is currently on the bench waiting for a new spring for the slide stop as it started to fall out. Figured I'd bent it while cleaning, and Sig kindly sent a new one.

Cnobbe, With my P 238 I ordered an extra mag and in order to justify the shipping I threw in a Pack of three slide stop springs and three extra recoil springs (new flat wire) just in case I also loose one. Parts were cheap and did make the shipping feel a little better. I guess I should see if the spring also interchanges with the P938.

Wouldn't worry in the slightest about finish wear on the rails. Just keep your slide rails greased per SIG's recommendation in your owner's manual. I've got a bit more'n 500 rounds through my P-938 and it appears the finish wear is about as bad as it will get. Terrific, reliable little pistols, the 938 and 238 ...
