I paid $470 for this one back in 2013. I'm very partial to revolvers with the 6" barrel and it seems to balance perfectly on the Model 19 in my opinion. IT's also a very sweet shooter.

The 19's are my favorite handgun period.
I've had a 6", I picked it up for a song due to a very weak trigger return a few years ago.
$1.50 to Numrich for a trigger return spring and it's good as new. Someone had chopped a few coils off the original I found out.
Mines a -5, although I do have a 4" -3 which is the 19 that started my love affair with them. The 6" I bought to shoot mouse fart 38 specials. Those silhouette sights and long sight radius are great!

That's a great looking 19 you have. For being made in the 1960's it sure has held up well.

Very nice find, especially at that price! One of the slickest DA triggers I have ever used was on a Model 19 that had been tuned up a bit. At 30', with some "warm" handloads, I managed to put them all in the black firing DA as fast as I could pull the trigger. The Model 19 was a great combination of size, weight, balance, and handling in a .357 revolver.

I now own the 2.5" and the 6" versions. Now I'm looking for a nice 4" Model 19. The hunt goes on.

The S&W Mdl. 19, 2.5 " Round Butt is a classic holster handgun. Many Game and Fish officers carried these handgun over the years. Now everyone needs a Dbl. stack weapon that fires 30 rounds or more.

JC111, the 4" is the most common and easiest to find. I found my 4" -3 first, then my 6" -5, then very quickly stumbled into a 2.5" -5 at a pretty standard price and snapped it up. I've only ever seen 2 other snubs in person. One was very over priced, the second wasn't for sale.
Glad I jumped on all three when I did.
I carry the 2.5" and 4" depending how concealed I need to be. The 6" is a range toy only, I use my 5" 629 to hunt with.

To me the 2.5" and the 6" barrel models seem to be the harder ones to come across, as the 2.5" version has always been in great demand and the 6" version isn't usually encountered very often. Hope your hunt for a 4" Model 19 goes well and photos please when you do find one (maybe a family portrait would be in order).

Picked up my 19-4 snubbie a couple year ago. This one set me back $675.00 (I paid cash so the dealer came down from $700). A little bit more than my 19-3 6". This one show a birthday sometime in 1980. Based on my personal experience the snubbies do seem to be harder to find. I've only come across a couple over the years as well so when I found this one I didn't quibble. The dealer is pretty savvy and always manages to carry harder to find and desirable models. You go to him when you feel that you've exhausted all options. I've gone to him three times and each time he had what I wanted. I paid a bit more, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. That's just my opinion of course.

Ah, that was my first Smith way back in '74, a classic 6" with patridge front sight....I still have it but it's not out of the safe often enough these days...went to a 4" bbl. instead which, for me packs a lot easier on the tractor or car seat. That's a great price on a beautiful revolver...try it with Skelton's old favorite load: 13.5 gr of 2400 behind Lyman's 359156 GC and I think you'll be impressed. Size 'em 0.359" and cast from Wheel Weights, that combination will do close to an inch at 25 yds from a rest, and will do an inch and a quarter at 100 yds from my Marlin 1894CS....hellofa load...my standard for all of our .357's. As always, you should work up to it after consulting a GOOD loading manual and considering all pressure indications. HTH's Rod
