This may have already been discussed, but has anyone else noticed that AR lowers are now difficult to get/expensive as we approach the election? I bought two $40 Anderson Arms lowers in preparation for this, and now I can't seem to find any more. Not that I'm all that surprised, of course, but I would have thought that the market would be saturated enough after the past 4+ years that we wouldn't be seeing anything like this.

My lgs still has plenty of stripped lowers, mags, ammo, etc. From that standpoint, things seem about average in my area for the time being.

Not sure about online. The only online store I check in with every now and then still had Colt 6720's in stock as of a few days ago. Maybe a touch higher than normal, but not absurd.

Aero had some stripped lowers yesterday. They were the gen 2 with small logo for $90.00 a piece. Not sure if that's going rate or not.

Hope that helps!

In stock locally has been tight all summer.

I brought a couple of Anderson lowers at a gun show last Spring for $40.00 each.

A co-worker that talks AR a lot convinced me to get another one. All the stores locally were out of them and reporting they could not get anymore. I got lucky with one store and brought one from them for $50.00 the same day they came in.

I am seeing them advertised on the Internet for quite a bit more. However $50.00 is my top price for a Anderson

I'm a relative nooby with AR's, I put together mine using an Anderson lower and a PSA complete kit. Everything went together perfectly and it has operated flawlessly.

What's the reason why "$50 is my top price for a(sic) Anderson"? Should we assume you would pay more for other brands, and if so, what makes them worth more than the Anderson?

I got an Anderson lower for 59$ at lgs 2 weeks ago. They are hard to find, PSA was out of stock when I checked last. Primary Arms finally started limiting 1 lower per customer. If Hillary wins and we lose the senate? Good luck. Might not even be able to find parts for the build. :uhoh:

I'll basically repeat what I said on an ammo thread here: If after the past years glut of lowers and their very low prices, after seeing the panic buying over the past few years as an election nears, if anyone waited until now to start lamenting about there being a shortage of lowers, shame on you.

I already went down the "extra" lower road, but darned if they didn't all turn into complete guns, so I quit buying them.

Now, I buy an occasional bolt carrier group, bolts, bolt rebuild kits gas rings extractor springs, various pins, detents, etc. That should keep them running.

More folks trying to create a panic when there isn't one. All the shops around here that normally carry stripped lowers seem to have plenty. But not many ever carried them since they are low margin items.

Aero Precision's stock is up and down, I ordered a lower a week ago and has not shipped yet. I have had OD Aero upper and lower on BO at Brownells since first of July. I have had a little difficulty with parts being out of stock but a few days later there is an unlimited supply. $89. Is Aero's going rate for a standard lower, upper just a few bucks difference.

From a dealer's perspective, AR lowers and uppers have been flying out of every distributor's warehouse since the middle of the summer. Most dealers, myself included, are predicting another panic and dealers are stocking up in preparation. My advice would be to buy a lower, upper, BCG, and LPK before the election if you can, even if you have no plans on completing the build.

There's a decent chance the Dems will win the White House and the Senate, which if that happens, I'm predicting a bigger panic than the last one. But that's just my personal opinion.

anderson isn't quite milspec. they don't tap the grip hole all the way through, safe/fire marking are only on the drivers side of the lower, and well, they're cheap. When emotions aren't running high, they can be had for $50 or less all day long. So why pay more than something is typically worth? I just built out an anderson lower. couple of tweaks and it was fine. Lowers are all basically the same, so while I might be willing to pay a couple bucks more for a different brand, or a rollmark I like better, I won't pay more than 10 bucks or so more. I'd rather put my money into something that matters, like the barrel or the trigger group.

Because Anderson does not drill a hole quite as deep is no reason to suggest they are cheap in any way except price, there certainly is no lowering of quality in the forging as they are buying what everyone else is. Machine work on the Anderson is very good but they do not (for whatever reason) include safe/fire on the right side. Anderson's LPK (enhanced) is a really good kit and comes with a shorter handguard screw. I have only a couple of anderson lowers and LPK's but they perform every bit as well as other brands i have. I understand Aero and Anderson are the top sellers of upper and lower stripped receiver in the country, I prefer Aero gen 2 but if not available the Anderson will work just fine.

Spikes does not drill the hole all the way through either, never had a problem with them. Simple enough to tap it all the way through if you need to, and have a long enough tap.

Plenty of lowers around Denver/Metro and according to one gun shop, more on the way.

Pretty much the difference in price between Anderson and Aero is the number of coats through the coating process,

I picked up an Anderson stripped lower two weeks ago at my lgs for $60 and they only had one left after I bought mine.
