I shamelessly admit to speculating, this election cycle

I don't really have much interest in AR's, but last month, I bought 2 of them. I also bought 50, 30-round magazines and 5000 rounds of .223 ammo; I told my wife last night that if Hellary wins, I'll be at the gunstore tomorrow when they open, and I am buying another AR.

On the way home from School yesterday, my 15 year old daughter asked me if I had been watching the polls. I answered her honestly; I said "No, sweetheart, because I will either be too happy and excited to sleep, or else I will be too sick to my stomach to sleep." So, I purposefully avoided as much as I could. My best friend texted me that Trump had won Indiana; another texted me that he had won Oklahoma, but lost New York. After that I refused to look at my phone.

I am proudly Catholic, and in addition to my daily prayers, I have been praying the Rosary for 2 weeks or so, exclusively, asking our Holy Mother to pray to her Son, our Lord, that Donald Trump and not Hillary Clinton would win the Presidency.

I was on the way to our kitchen to get coffee for my wife & me; she pulled up the news on her iPad & hollered: "HE WON!" I stopped in my tracks and said "Trump won?" she said yes, and I all but dropped to my knees, and sobbed "THANK YOU, GOD." (as I type this, I am choking up).

I dropped my daughter off at School, and headed to our Parish for daily Mass, where I had to fight back tears and I just kept thanking God that Donald Trump would be our next President.

Well, the mags arrived Monday, and the ammo arrived today, so after doing what I needed to do at work, I took off, grabbed a bite of lunch, went home & unloaded the majority of the ammo. Then, I loaded up 2 10mm's and a .45, and I headed to Impact Guns here in Boise to CELEBRATE!!!!!

As I was unloading, an older gentleman and a couple were just leaving the range. I asked them "Isn't the sky a deeper blue, and isn't the air just a little bit fresher today?" They all laughed and said it sure is.

Our struggles are NOT anywhere near to being over, but I do truly believe that God has heard and answered the prayers of so many, asking Him to please, help us save our nation.

My best friend texted me this morning that it looked like I'd be stuck with the AR's, the mags, & beaucoup ammo...

Y'know what? I'm okay with that.

I don't see you being "stuck" with anything -- its way better to have it and not need it, than to not have it!

Even with the saturated market, and no banic, I don't think the price of ammo is going to drop much in the next few years. My impression is today's price is more or less against the floor of raw material prices.

I too have a strategic supply in place, purchased in anticipation of a different outcome. I'm delighted that I'll be able to add to it for the next few years, rather than draw it down.

I intend to be one of those old guys you see around here, talking to young whippersnappers about how they're still using 40 year old powder and primers. . .

Sam,

Thank you for your faith and prayers. Yes, we have dodged the bullet for the next 4 years, but don't forget, more people voted for the Democrats and Hillary than for Trump. It is only the antiquated "Electoral College" that saved us. This is a clear indicator of the crisis our Country faces. Gun rights are only one issue when defending against onslaughts on all our civil rights by the party of lawyers, politicians, unions, corrupted media journalists, and bureaucrats. While they preach tolerance, they are only tolerant of those who totally agree with them. We have to reach out to those who are unaware of the consequences of complacency and convert them to our side. Take a neighbor to the range, teach a youngster to shoot, get involved with the local Boy Scout troop or Jr ROTC at the local High School. Absolutely no woman shooter I know voted for Hillary. We need more of these for the next election!

Me, I pulled a cork and had several celebratory drams of "Ol Knobbyhead" despite the fact that the cheap-skate Repubs locally don't offer "walking around money" for a vote like the Dems do in the black districts. I guess us Florida crackers can afford our own without their help. Tomorrow, I am ordering primers. I am down to only 10,000 small pistol primers, and that is just unacceptable.

I'm not celebrating Trump's victory. Only a few years ago he was a Democrat and an AWB proponent. I still don't trust him. But I will celebrate Hillary's loss this weekend, when I don't have to work the next day, with several servings of Kentucky's best and locally brewed ale.
I couldn't bring myself to vote for either one of those ... characters.. and still sleep at night.
Now that the 2 years of The Great Nightmare Campaign is over, it is time to focus our attention on strengthening our position as responsible gun owners.
It is also time to realize that the greatest threat to Liberty is the Bureaucrats and their morass of arbitrary rules which carry the weight of law without representation. I believe it is time to begin tearing down bureaucracies, beginning with those that infringe on our most basic rights.

splattergun,

I understand; a few years ago, I was not the man I am today, either.

Mr. Trump was not my 1st choice; I do believe, however, that he will surprise so many, in that he will be a so-much-better President than most people expect of him today; with Hellary, we already knew what we were getting.

Open 10 mags.....leave the other 40 in wrap, stored away somewhere (good investment). Then, take your wife and daughter to a range with those two new rifles and have fun with a few hundred rounds. Then do it again....

Yo Mama:

Yep. As I said at the beginning: "I shamelessly admit to speculating..." Hoped for the best and prepared for the worst, and now I have a boatload of mags to figure out what to do with. o_O

Yes it does Sam, the sky does look a deeper blue today and the air is a whole lot fresher!!! :)

Everything is in G-d's hands.

We surrender all to Him for we don't know what tomorrow brings. Thank you for your faith and I continually pray for the best for our country.

Thank you for sharing.

I totally understand OP, you panic-bought on the assumption that everyone else will soon forget they didn't feel like panic-buying right around Black Friday ;) (let's all admit it, there is a certain thrill in getting the last good deal before all the other fools have to eat a price increase :D)

I had been buying up ammo and reloading supplies this last year, when there was a deal. Yesterday, I decided if H were elected, I'd be looking at guns over the next few weeks. Today I just spent some time with my wife. I still might look at some guns though.

Nothing wrong with that. I went through a few of these cycles over my life, and definitely bought without regret. Why? Just because today is ok, doesn't mean tomorrow will be, for me, my children, or their children.

I've spent the last 16 months building up a stockpile of powder, primers and bullets for 9mm, 40 cal, 308 and .223. I wanted enough on hand to shoot for 2 years, at 2000 rounds/year per caliber.

I was like most everyone else, no way Trump can win, definitely was not getting caught without a supply and a Hillary election.

Now that Trump has won, I can breathe easy and have a ton of ammo to shoot. I certainly don't regret hedging against a Hillary election.

Can you imagine the storm we would be seeing right now, had she been elected?

People will eventually remember how much they like buying new stuff, no matter how much they have squirreled away ;) (heck, I swore off additional parts kits this year, and I'm already being tempted by a Vickers :D)

It is only the antiquated "Electoral College" that saved us.

At the risk of going OT and treading dangerously close to verboten political discussion, I will simply say that the electoral college is not antiquated at all, and is very much necessary for the sake of all Americans. We are a democratic republic, not a democracy. Please educate yourself on exactly what the EC is and why it exists.

i don't regret any of my purchases . In July (yUGE sales) I bought 35,000 pistol primers , 30lbs of pistol powder, 3,000 umc of 223 , 3,000 rounds of golden tiger 7.62x39, 2 cases of GP11. 7,000rounds of 22lr , 16lbs of tannerite ,a vepr in x39 and a captured luger in 9mm.......all in preparation for Hillary.
i am extremely relived she got schlonged in the election

i caint wait for the next July 4th sales to come around under trumps watch......buy cheap and stack it deep.

I have no crystal ball so the future is a mystery to me but I did not run out and buy anything nor did I celebrate, what ails this country can't be healed by a man and one more gun or box of ammo may give the warm and fuzzies but I doubt it will matter in the long run.

I did squirrel away a couple of AR lowers & parts kits. I can truly relate to this thread. I didn't realize how much the election had been wearing me down until was over. In some ways, I guess it was like depression. The stream of negativity on TV & worries about the future of our country, were physically affecting me & my sleep. Finally I just quit watching the news & told myself that all I could do is pray, vote & spread the word - my only weapons in defense. But as we all know, the battle within America continues...

Hi...

I spent a serious amount of money this late summer/fall building a stash of reloading components and adding a few firearms to my collection.
I was convinced Clinton had bought and paid for the election and stocked up enough supplies to enable my son and I to continue to shoot all of our firearms for several years without too much concern.
I am very happy that she lost.

To celebrate her defeat yesterday, I went on a gun shop tour.
I managed to stumble across a very nice used Sako L579 Forester in .243 that had just been brought into the shop for $599.
I just turned 62 on Sunday and Hillary was sent to the dustbin of history on Tuesday, so this is my birthday/post-election gift to myself.

November is shaping up as a very nice month hereabouts!
