That is a good argument and lots will agree about the G19 being the goldielocks gun of 9mm's for those reason you stated. However after many years and many examples of 9mm's I think the best 9mm is the Cz p01 or pcr. It's definitely not as easy to work on as a glock but boy it sure is a sweet gun that meets and exceeds the G19 in many areas. If you haven't tried one I'd say you're doing yourself a great disservice. Plus the fact that the Cz p01 is the only NATO gun with the NATO serial numbers is a nice little perk, though it doesn't make performance any better than some non NATO guns. It's just cool

I've shot plenty of Glocks and do well with them... just have to work at accuracy a bit more than other guns, especially my SR9c. Odd, but the G20SF feels great in my hand, and mentioned such on another thread. Someone chimed in that not all Glocks have the same grip angle. I'll take his word for it.
I've no doubt the 30S will feel natural after a bit.

Well said. I have one Glock, mainly just to say I have one, but I don't like it nearly as well as my 1911, even though I've had the Glock for 25 years and the 1911 for 2. I even like my S&W M19 better, mainly because it DOES have more soul (but a lot fewer bullets).
I've recently been considering selling the Glock (a 2nd Gen G20, bought the month they were originally released), to replace it with a Delta Elite, which also has more soul. I do want to keep a 10mm in the herd.

I have many beautiful S&Ws, some Colts and Ruger revolvers to. Got Sig automatics, even a Browning P-35! Several 1911s... Even a Dan Wesson and Webely!
But I pack a Glock. I do it not cause it's the most accurate nor lightest. Nor even carries the most ammo (my CCW splits between a Glock 26 and 43.)
I carry 'em cause they work very well, are very durable, light, reasonably accurate, and fit my hand well. And not being terribly expensive helps!
So my other guns are a) field guns, b) fun shooters, and c) collector pieces.

About a year ago exactly, I was in the market for a full size plastic 9 and initially was ready to drop coin on a gen4 G17. Long story short I decided to research around and ended up with a Canik TP9SA. Slightly more capacity, a trigger that's in another world from the glock, and so far (1,400rds without a hitch) glock reliability.
I have nothing against glocks, I just didn't want to spend the extra bills at the time for something that IMHO offered less. I may still pick up a G19 or 26 to throw in the carry rotation.

Yeah the sf frames do feel a little better because the grip circumference is shorter at the backstrap. The 30S has the sf frame so it should feel a little familiar. The hump on the grip changes in the various sizes of glock which gives them that different feel and why people like me like the compact but don't like the full size or sub compact or vice versa. Even though I don't care for the full size grips I'm still getting a G41 one day, just because it's the G30's big brother and can share the 13 round magazines . Maybe I'll get a grip reduction done on it to make it more personalized.

I know what you mean. I've been hunting for a full size 9mm "service" pistol for a while now. After all the examination I've done, the Glock 17 Gen 3 is calling my name still!!

All that said, they are the BEST general use service type pistol at an affordable pricing range available on the market if one can simply remember to keep their booger picker off the bang switch until one is aligned with the target.

Just to be clear...I'm not advocating for (or criticizing) Glocks in general. I have other 9mm pistols I like and shoot better, and if I were shopping for a duty size .45 there are others I prefer.
I'm being very specific about the 30S in this thread. It is the best balance of size, weight and capacity in a .45 carry gun, IMO.

Congrats! I also told myself last year to add a Glock G19. For years I had felt luke warm but the many are drawn to them. I shot a 3'rd gen and thought yeah it's nice. A bit later while browsing the bulletin board of FS stuffs a Sig 229 Enhanced Elite came up, I was pulled away. One day.

I am middle-aged and a revolver guy. My preferred semi-automatic pistols are CZ75, 1911, BHP, etc. That being said, due to unusual circumstances I ended up owning a Glock and have been very satisfied with it. I am not a fan of polymer or striker-fired in general, but the sights and trigger are very good and it goes bang every time. I was dumb to have been prejudiced against them.

Never met a glock I didn't hate. I don't distrust their reliability or accuracy or anything else. I just don't like the way they look or feel in my hand.
I do think it is great that so many people are picking them up though. I don't care what folks shoot as long as there are more of us all of the time.

When my wife was violently assaulted by a street punk in downtown Denver and I was forced to deploy my Glock 30 loaded with 10+1 rounds of 200gr +P Gold Dot, I was quite comforted by the fact that I had a very reliable, very accurate weapon to protect her with. I won't be telling that story much anymore.

As did I - been doing so since at least 2003 (when I bought my first polymer gun).
After polymer guns had been out long enough for me to feel the design was proven, I bought my first one. Compared the Glock to the S&W Sigma, did my research, and came home with the Sigma (perfection indeed...).
As a Sigma owner, I can teach Glock owners a thing or two about hate!
Nuttin' against Glocks, but I've always found something I like better, like XD's and the SIG SP2022.
For years the Sigma was my bed gun - when the night sights needed replacing, I used that money towards a SIG SP2022, which is now my bed gun.

I have had a series one Glock 17 from 89 until about 1999 and then a Glock 26 from then till 2010 , they went to friends that fell in love with them and paid me almost full price for my well used , but not abused, guns. My current .45acp Glock 21 rides in a chest holster with 2 spare mags mostly when motorcycling or ATVing. the gun is tuned, it is accurate and reliable . I am not a big Glock fan but it is what it is light and reliable.
What about Sam Gerard? Arguably the biggest fictional character glock fanboy ever lol

If you replace "lightweight" with "virtually indestructible", your description is that of the S&W 5906.
I have a G20, and it's a good enough gun for beating up in the woods, where I don't like to take my more expensive and less replaceable 10mm pistols. I'd be pretty upset if I slid down a rock face and put a big, ugly scratch on my S&W 1006, Kimber Stainless Target II or Witness Limited.
Incidentally, the G20 has had more hiccups than the 1006 (zero ever!) or the Kimber.
The reason I picked a G20 over something like the Witness standard or polymer as a woods gun? Threaded barrel availability, can accept a light (Witness models didn't have dust cover rails at the time), and apparently you can't mention the negatives of a Glock unless you own one.
And no, Glocks don't become an addiction for all. I have no desire to own any other models, even as cheap as I can get them with the connections I have. Better choices exist.

That's the one will never get rid of, had one for 25 years. It weighs the same as my 19 and 26, it fits is most of my 26 holsters, and it holds 11 or 14 rounds of 45. That's doubble that of a 1911. so how can you not like it. My first 30 was admittedlly too thick in the grip, and I like thick. I have very large hands, my fingers are longer that my hand being big. The S, even though to the novice may look the same, is a different gun. Whatever they removed they did it in the right places, slide is slimmer, frame is slimmer, I no longer feel it's too wide. It also is 22 ozs, where can you find a 22 oz 45 that will hold 11 rounds. If you use the aluminum Liberty civil defense amo, you have a loadde 45 with an under 30 oz weight. To me it feels like my 26 in weight. If I had to get rid of all my Glocks, I would keep that one, and it shoots very well. A 45 is still a 45, even though i mostly carry a 9, if the SHTF, I hope I am carrying my 45 that day. And honestly, my lcp recoil is more annoying than my G30,S. There has always been confusion over what the SF meant on Glocks, most say short frame some say slim frame, it could be either, I read an article a few years ago that explained some are slimmer and some are shorter.
