Why does Maine require a Maine CCW permit to ccw in Acadia National Park?

If you go to Maine you can ccw almost everywhere without a permit but some places/activities require a permit to ccw. Maine honors 27 state resident permits (resident only)

for all places/activities where/when a permit is needed to ccw except Acadia National Park. There you have to have a Maine permit, why? Does anyone know? Is there actual logic behind this even if it is silly logic or is it just because?

Thanks

My speculation is that since Acadia is federal and federal regulations defer to the state law in which the Park is located to determine CCW details, state regs may have been written in this restrictive manner for any number of reasons, some of which may remain relevant and some of which may be lost in the mists of time. It could have been a compromise to address some special interest group at the time or may have been a misunderstanding of federal deference by leg committee at the time...

The keyword is National Park. Federal rules require a concealed carry permit (since before that, they allowed no carry at all, it's a relaxing of stricter rules).
Last I checked, it is not legal to fire a concealed weapon in a Nat'l Park except in lawful self-defense.

It may have something to do with consistency, with both State and National Parks. You must also have a CCW Permit to carry in a State park, and Open Carry is prohibited in State Parks, not sure about Acadia. It looks like the statue being sited is a Maine law for Acadia as well though.

A law passed by congress in May 2009 that took effect February 22, 2010, directed the National Park Service and US Fish and Wildlife Service to change their firearms possession policies nationwide to generally coincide with their respective state's firearms possession policies. Park Superintendents are given latitude to enact park-specific policy in the interest of visitor safety, among other reasons. This latitude has created unresolved conflict. For instance, you'll notice in this pamphlet for National Park Lands in the Inter-mountain Region,

it states you must be in possession of a CC permit if you are in possession of a concealed firearm. This is in direct conflict with the laws of several states in the Inter-mountain region that do not generally require permits to carry concealed weapons.
At the risk of providing false information, it appears Maine has created that specific regulation governing Acadia NP. The park is bound by federal law to recognize and generally follow state law in this case.
Your best avenue to a correct answer would be to contact the Park Superintendent or Chief Ranger at Acadia NP, to clarify their firearms possession policy.

As far as I can tell, you can carry a concealed weapon in Acadia NP if you have a Maine CCW permit. Title 12 sec. 756 of the Maine Revised Statutes seem to specifically identify Acadia as an area where a permit is required if it is concealed.
