MSRP over $500!???

Are they out of their mind?

I'm getting rid of my .22 mag LCR. If they come up with a .22 mag version of this longer barrel model, maybe I'll buy it. ;)

Just curious if you've shot an LCR 22LR? I compared my wife's to all the revolvers I've shot, including recent production S&W 6XX series snubs, and it was far-FAR-worse than any of them.

Perhaps she got a bad example, but this particular gun is, as I mentioned, the worst DA I've ever encountered. I get that modern DA guns will need work, and rimfires in particular, but this one starts so far behind that I wouldn't even consider it. Again, maybe this one is a klinker.

Larry

I own an LCR 22 is it anything resembling a nice trigger. No.

Is it completely shoot able and serviceable as a point n click interface. Absolutely

Again you are paying for single action capability and decent sights with this X model. USE THEM

I more than likely will be buying one of these LCRx's in 22LR. Been on my Ruger wish list since the 38spl came out. I definitely want to handle it first.

I expect the trigger to be pretty much the same as my LCR in 22LR. It's shootable and certainly not a target gun. Just a plinker for me or an occasional carry piece.

I like Rugers, but I'll stick with my pre-lock S&W 317. Now if they make the LCRx available in .22 WMR ... maybe ...

Hmmm. I don't like wear points on aluminum frame revolvers much, but I have dealt with it. Adding an aluminum cylinder makes me think of the locking notches wearing out early. I sure hope the extractor star is steel to handle the wear from the hand advancing the cylinder.

The gun is not for everyone. As long as the trigger in DA is tolerable, I'm fine with it. And... do you think the SP-101 or GP-100 has a light factory DA trigger in 22? I don't expect Ruger to make a small 22 revolver with a very light DA trigger. It is a safety thing for them (read liability) and you can always change out the springs if you like. Then you can blame the ammo when it misfires.

Your S&W is a good looking revolver. Do they make a version with a stainless steel cylinder?

When the 317 first came out, there were problems and I read that S&W replaced those cylinders with steel cylinders. Since I haven't read this since, I assume S&W remedied that problem.

I actually don't own a 317. My most recent S&W 22 was the 3" M63 (all steel). It along with the 5" M63 are my woods companion revolvers. I consider these a really nice package. I used to carry Colt Diamondbacks for this in 22. I own M17 and M18's (6 shooters), but no 617's. You can see where I Iean on these kinds of things. The problems with the 317 pushed that one out of my consideration. The Ruger LCR is my light snubbie 22. One of my "complaints" about the regular LCR was the lack of a hammer, so there was no option for single action shooting. But I really like the LCR.

I don't remember hearing about problems with the 317. S&W lists the current production guns with aluminum alloy frames and cylinders with a stainless steel barrel. I've had no problems either with my original 317 (sold in a fit of stupidity) or its replacement that I bought within the last year. If you can point me to a write-up on the original problems, I'd be interested.

Legionaire, I looked for this and couldn't find anything. This is a good while ago and many of the searches are limited. In particular I was looking in Rimfire Centra and here. But not the S&W forum as I just don't go there much anymore.

Added: All I can say is that I was really interested in buying one until I stated reading about problems. That was pretty much "it" for me. The truth is that I really didn't need one anyway. Most of what I have read in these searches has been very positive toward the little revolver.

I'll stick with my 317 and 351pd in 22 mag. I also have the 38 LCRx snubby and 3" version.
