Walther Pistols...

Well, I've got a variety of Walthers - PP, PPK, P.38, P1, but the one that I carry when I want something small is a Hungarian PA 63 in 9mm Makerov. This is a knock off copy of the Walther PP, but in a Much better caliber!
Since I don't see a need for a double action pistol, my normal use pistol is a 60s vintage military contract Browning Hi-Power that I removed the magazine safety from. I use a Canadian Englis HP mag which is 14 rds rather than the Browning 13 rd so I have 15 rds in the pistol.

A PP, a PPK or a PPK/s in 32 ACP depending on how small you want to go.

I like P1's or P38's. I have 3 P1's so I won't wear one out!

A PP in .32 ACP and a P38..........wait, I guess I own three Walther pistols I have a P38 and I have the post war version, the P1 ?

Anyway, my favorite is the PP. It has a very solid, very quality feel to it. And mine shoots great. It has very usable sights on it and I can shoot it accurately.

I've not used the PPQ but I would LOVE to find a P99 for sale or trade. It's the only platform I perform better with than my 9x19 Glocks

For carry I would like to have a P99AS in 9mm and 40. As well as a PPQ 45. Have the big three calibers covered from my favorite gun maker.

As far as vintage models, I would like a P38 as a safe queen. A newer model (classic design) PPK/s from Interarms instead of Crap and Wesson. And an older one with some soft color wood grips like they used to be made with.

I like old/antique things and service pistols. I would very much enjoy owning a P38. I think that Walther is the only major manufacturer that I don't own an example of.

Or if I wanted one that just looks sexy

No sense being redundant here, seeing that a few others have already covered my base quite well, so it's the PPQ M1 (.40cal) and the PPS M1 9mm for those warm months when I don't need to wear layers. Two phenomenal workhorses!

The wartime steel-framed P38s are nice safe queens, but the slides have a nasty habit of cracking at the locking cam cutout if subjected to regular firing. The guys at Walther forums absolutely proscribe the use of modern +P ammo in them as well.
IMO, the later P1s are the best shooters of the breed. They have thicker slides and a steel locking shelf in the aluminum frame to keep battering to a minimum. Mine is a tack driver!

As far as PP-types, my Interarms/Ranger .380 PPK/S was flawlessly machined, nicely polished, and super sexy. It also wouldn't make it through a full magazine without jamming. Ever.
The general consensus at Walther forums is that the Ulm and Manurhin .32 PPs are the most reliable, best constructed of the breed. I'm looking at a Manurhin now.

If I could get another one, I'd get:

P88. No question. I've seen a lot of Walthers, a lot of guns, and the two P88s I saw back in the day were crazy. Like one imagines magical swords appear. Best machined things I've ever seen and unbearably smooth. On the same tier as the best Sig 210s I've seen.



Now, if any Walther and no issues about legality: MPK.

I'd choose a Walther PPS M1/Classic in 9mil. It's the only Walther I own and my pocket pistol.

Walther Model 4, circa 1916- just picked this up and got her all fixed up. Not sure it will displace my P1 as my favorite Walther, though!

Incidentally, I've shot my buddy's PPS and was quite impressed.

I am thinking current production. As it stands, the only Walther I have is my PK380. However, the one I would recommend is the P99.

Another vote for the PPQ M2 just pick one up and it fits great and is accurate. So far no issues but only about 100rds through it.

I'm with the P99 crowd. I also have both the P99 and the P38. Because the p38 just feels so different, its a fun range gun to shoot. Back when I bought it, there was a flood of them that hit the market. They were so cheap, I just couldn't pass up on a good German made pistol for so little money. I've had the first gen p99 with the A/S trigger for about 11 or 12 years now and its still the best striker fired polymer that I've ever owned or shot. Its very accurate, has great ergonomics, buttery smooth trigger, and the reliability factor has been 2nd to none.

I vote for the PPS M2. Comes with 6,7,8 rd. mags. very versatile for cc.I just wore mine this morning to church on my ankle with one mag on my hip. Nice. But depends on the purpose of the gun. Only gun-not, second or third- yes. Only gun Springfield XD-E. Sorry about that.

Walther just released 3 PPS models with either, night sights, laser, or a red dot. I got the email this AM, and they are already shipping all 3, the Red Dot model is the one I am interested in. It runs about the same as sending my Glock 26 or 19 out and having the slide cut, and buying the dot.

I only own one Walther pistol, a PPX in 9mm, so I guess that's it.

I've owned one Walther pistol, the PPS M2 and like it very much indeed.

If I could have another it would be a PP in .32 ACP/7.65 and a P5 and a ....

I’ve always wanted a P1, would be an excellent one to just have fun with. If I’m looking to carry the new PPQ subcompact looks interesting.
