Well, here's a "no, it won't"

My M-308 would not hold up to the recoil of my M1A. Reticle started rotating inside the tube after 300-ish rounds. They replaced it. Now it won't hold zero. Back to the Philippines it goes for a 2nd time.

I'm done with Nikon

I worked the Gun Counter at one of the four Cabela's super stores until November. The scope brand we had the most returns on due to failure was Vortex(mostly Crossfires) followed by Nikon. For the number of Nikons we sold the return rate was very low. Every company puts out a dud occasionally. I'm not a Nikon fan - I don't see well out of them and don't care for their BDC reticle, but the chances of a P series scope not holding up to AR-10 recoil are very small.

I assume the chance for an M series would be as low or maybe lower, but here I am with 2 of them and both have taken a crap so I'm batting a perfect 1000 with this model. I understand M1As have a rep for eating scopes, but the M-308 is supposedly designed for this and at $500, it's not some cheap bubble-wrapped Tasco you find haning next to the beef jerky and trail mix

.

Having two crap out would seem like a statistical anomaly but I could be wrong. I could also be wrong about this but I believe the M series has better glass and is the same toughness wise as the P series.

I actually went with the M series. On a good note it came included with the mount and the scope arrived on Monday. On a sad note, the mount doesn't arrive until Thursday. I'll take it out as soon as I get an actual day off (crossing my fingers for one next month) and I'll report back if there are any issues. Thank you all for the advice and insight

Looks great. Too bad I don't have time to try it out until next month
