is $399 good price for like-new CZ-75B?

I agree; they do look out of place on such a well made and nicely finished gun. One of these days I'm going to change out both the grips and the grip screws. For now though I will keep using (and enjoying),it just as it came from the factory.

I bought nice grips screws from Brownells for all my CZ pistols. I put the CZ rubber grip panels on my 75B, as I liked the ones that came standard on my PCR.

Have a hankerin' for the checkered Cocobolo grips CZ-USA has in their online store. Might drop some hints to my wife that I would like them for my birthday!

Great price! IMO/IME, for what you get and the quality of the gun, the CZ 75/85/97 guns are a bargain at MSRP. $400 was a steal for the gun that you bought there.

I'll also make my standard recommendation - install this kit in your 75 B to make an already great gun significantly better for plinking and target shooting: https://cajungunworks.com/product/54420-ultra-lite/
The Ultra-Lite kit will make DA very significantly lighter, make SA significantly lighter (even though it's not really mentioned much in the product description) and make racking the slide noticeably easier (not an issue, but still makes it nicer), and make it even safer to dry-fire if you want. I have the blue spring in some of my CZs and the lighter black spring in my 85 Combat. None have failed to light a primer, and the black spring makes everything (trigger pulls and slide racking) even lighter.
I checked the kit and seems reasonably priced at $49, you get a lot for that money.
I have a question for everybody:
is plastic spring guide rod something to worry about?
when I disassembled the gun for the first time after i bought it, I was surprised to see the part being plastic.
Is there any history of failures of those ?

I haven't had any of the ones from CZ-USA but I've read that they are thicker than the ones from CZ Custom, and some people don't like the extra thickness. I have a set of the part-checkered ones from CZ Custom and they are pretty thin, fit well, and look nice. But, I prefer the feel of the factory rubber grips for actual shooting, so the rubber grips stay on the gun.

CZ Custom grips: https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/grips/cz-75-full-size-coco-bolo-grips-part-checker.html
Again, I'm not even sure there is any difference between the two as I've only ever handled the CZ Custom ones.

Its wierd to complain about the head of a screw, i know, im just odd that way

I bought some replacement grips (ivory) and those standard screws and while the new grips looked ok i liked the factory grips better so i put those back on.

I believe the OP will be happy with his 75b. Thats a great gun for $400. CZ, DW, & Brno all have made some fine quality weapons. I am a CZ fanboy ill admit but its only because of every weapon ive shot with their name on it was super accurate and reliable and built like a tank.

Built like a Ruger, shoots like an Anshutz, priced like a Savage! ;)

And about the plastic guide rod: CZ states the plastic guide rod was added to act as a buffer when shooting hotter rounds. There were instances of slide stop pins getting broke when firing hot loads so the cushion the plastic rod gives at the end of the cycle is supposed to cure that.

NO

And although plenty of people substitute a stainless steel rod, I wouldn't do it.

So am I. I replaced mine with hex head screws :D

The thread pitch is maddeningly unusual, so you won't find them at the local hardware store. There is a guy who sells CZ screws: http://czscrews.angelfire.com. I didn't buy them from him, instead I bought a lifetime supply from McMaster-Carr for about the same amount of money. If you want the exact catalog number let me know.

You're doomed, pal. Next thing you know, a CZ 97 is going to show up in your safe and eat your entire ammo budget!
It could happen. A 97 B showed up in my safe and next thing I knew I sold my 1911 because it wanted to go live with someone who would take it out and shoot it instead of leaving it in the safe all the time. :)

Luckily, quality 45 ACP is priced these days more like it was back in the 1980s. http://www.sgammo.com/product/cci/1...230-grain-fmj-cci-blazer-brass-case-ammo-5230

Or my favorite 45 ACP that shoots insanely accurately in my 97 B: http://www.sgammo.com/product/geco/1000-round-case-45-auto-230-grain-fmj-ammo-made-geco-hungary

Look nice, indeed! With that grain pattern they look fantastic! Thanks for the info.

congrats and welcome to the CZ 75 club! $399 was a steal, I paid £550 for my 2nd hand CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow (although the previous owner had some competition work done to the gun so that was still well worth imo)

I WAS fine with the screws that came on my CZs, but now I'm curious! haha. Please post the MMC catalog # either here or in a PM, whatever your preference.

My bad, i didnt mean to point out the grip screw thereby causing you to now not care for it.

I didnt think of the consiquinses of my actions......or did i?

thank you !
does anyone here has experience with shooting steel cased ammo thru CZ-75 (Tula ammo, etc.) ?
any issues ?
I know my 1911 does not like it, but polymer ones don't care ...

Sure! The screw threads are M3.5 x 0.6 x 6mm... but I searched for them on MMC's website and can no longer find them in the catalog. Perhaps they no longer sell them.

These are very similar to what I have though. Torx not hex, which would be OK with me also: https://hbindustries.net/store/shop/cz-pistol-torx-grip-screws-black-stainless/

I will need to try to reverse this grip paint job.
Definitely ! :what:

IMG_1155.JPG IMG_1157.JPG
so i tried to use Krylon paint , but they became too slippery, then I tried to give them some "texture" with steel wool and to make them look little bit rustic and worn out ...

would paint thinner harm the plastic?
should I try acetone instead when removing Krylon paint?

Oh I am absolutely not the person to ask.

I've tried stripping paint off some old bakelite AK handguard with mineral spirits and they didn't come out great.

That's as far as my experience goes.

Acetone would work better, but any solvent that will remove that paint is likely to soften and dull the grips. I think you are going to be limited to repainting them with a matte finish or just replacing the grips entirely. At least they're not terribly expensive.

I replaced the "thumbrest" grip panels on my 75B with CZ rubber grip panels. I really like them. I also like the standard, textured plastic grip panels CZ has on many of their guns now, and for the last several years.

I had this pair of Rogers Combat grips and painted them black. Didn't care for how they looked and stripped off the paint by soaking them in paint thinner. Paint came right off and grips still look as good as new. Of course not all plastics are made the same but at this point you might as well give it a try and see what happens. Either that or sand them down a bit and repaint them black. Worst case scenario they're a total write-off and you have to buy a new pair (found some on Ebay for less than $12).

Hey, at least I did not try to paint to them with spray can while still on the gun !
That would be one really messed up gun :(

If you had we would have rescinded your membership in the CZ Club!

Just kidding!

That looks 100% better! Good work!
