Id like to thank everyone for posting here. Lots of good advise . Gave me new things to consider that never came across my mind. Still going to be a bit before I end up picking one up. Hopefully ill get to shoot a a few more before I do. But am looking forward to purchasing one.

A gun, like a good truck or motorcycle becomes an extension of one's personal taste.
For me, a gun becomes an extension of my arm. The extension that can hurl lead projectiles fast and accurate is the extension for my taste.

1911 suits that purpose very well. Glock does that job pretty well. Pistol Caliber Carbines do that job extremely well at higher velocities. :D

That too, extension of one's arm.

I shot my Colt 1991 A1 , yes with the ugly roll mark one today side by side with my Buddies Dan Wessons, a night Hawk in 9mm and a Wilson Combat. I think that I paid under 700 for the Colt when I got it. Now the DW's, Night Hawk and Wilson are in a place of their own and a pure pleasure to shoot but so was the plain Jane Colt. As I told my buddy , it was like driving a Chevy and a Ferrari, they both get you where you need to go but the Ferrari does it with a whole other vibe. If I want another 1911 I will save for a Dan Wesson Valor, really nice.

Currently drooling over an E Series after renting a similar Performance Center model today. Store didn't have an E Series in stock to handle, but they did have the Ruger which I had also been browser dating, and it just did not feel as nice in the hand.

I have two Kimbers never any malfunctions.I am looking for a Commander length.LW 1911.I looked at a used Ruger which was sweet.Does the Colt Comp come in a Commander length. That LW Govt looks good. What does everyone think about Rock Island.

Well I have a confession to make. Went to my lgs after work today. I had the intention on handling a few more 1911's and putting a deposit down. I'm in pretty good with the head clerk there and he said he could do an extended layaway. Which really pushed my decision .

Looked at a few 1911's . And asked the clerk to come up with some prices on a few if i ordered them, because he did not have any colts or ria's there. While i was waiting for him to come up with prices I saw the cz p01 again. He noticed m eyeballing it an asked if I wanted to handle it. I responded "uhhh I probably shouldn't". Clerk smirks pulls out the cz from the case and hands it to me. The gun felt to melt in my hands and pointed so naturally. CZ's handguns are rare in my neck of the woods and this is the first non full size I've seen at my lgs in two years. So I couldn't pass it up. Put the deposit down on the cz. Now I need to pay it off over the next month or four and start saving again for a 1911. Which will probably be next year sometime.

Again I'd like to thank you guys for all the info posted. Will remember it when the time comes to pick up the 1911.

I like CZ guns too. When you are back shopping for 1911s, I really like my Sig XO. I think it is in your budget.

You're not the first guy to fall victim to the siren song of a CZ. I have a P-01 myself and it is a nice little gun.

As long as you are happy with it, it fits good, and is within your budget, go for it. I expect you will find a 1911 down the road and you will like it too. No worries.

For me with my limited income, my dream gun was a Springfield Range Officer. Last year I fell into some money and looked around and found a 5" 9mm, and a 4" Champion 9mm both nib for $500 each. Now I'm happier than a pig in slop, then I found a 4" Smith 67 that was near the top of my short list with almost 200 rounds through it for $500. I was ecstatic. Remember the 3 P's, Patience, Persistence, Payoff.

I’ve had a REMINGTON R1 Enhanced .45 for a couple of years now........
Been very happy with this weapon, beautiful gun!
I’ve run about 500 rounds thru it with a dozen different brands of ammo without a hiccup!

I’m hangin on to this one permanently!

At a gun show on the weekend and two different dealers had specials on Springfields that included 4 magazines, a range bag and possibly another accessory, in a white cardboard box instead of a hard carrycase. Can't find any details of it online though.

Very much liking the Range Officer after getting to handle one - it has the target sights, being in FL there's not much opportunity to conceal carry a full size 1911, so it's a contender.

Was laughable seeing several people asking $550 for RIA GIs which is over retail of $529. They're on Gun Broker for under $400.

Well done Bones! Care to share any details about it with us like manufacturer, model, caliber, etc.? And of course photos are a must when you pick it up!
